New Member- Introduction Thread
My name is Justin, been browsing the forum for a bit of time now, I'm a active member on Club Lexus so I'm not new to forums. I've been looking at E and S Classes for a while now and I finally got around to test driving both today at my local dealership (MB of Pembroke Pines) I first test drove the 12' S550 and it is really nice, the steering feel is really nice for such a huge car and the TT 4.6 is refined and has plenty of power. I gunned it on the way back to the dealership and it really moves. But when my fiance drove the S550, she was intimidated by the size and she said the throttle was too sensitive for her.
We then drove a 10' E550, I like it a lot its quieter than the S and the steering feels a bit better IMO. My fiance immediately fell in love with the E, she was more comfortable with the size and price lol. I really wanted a W221 but the salesman recommended to wait for the 2013 S Class and we both agreed.
So until then we're getting a W212. I've got my eyes on two E550s. The one we test drove was a Artic White/Almond Beige thats CPO with the Sport pkg and the P01 pkg, its listed at $45,990 and it has 33,6xx miles. The only prob is, is that I can't rotate the tires due to the staggered wheels and the tires cost a arm and a leg each. The second one is also a 2010 but its not CPO, its Iridium Silver/Black interior with the Luxury and P02, Wood steering wheel, rear side airbags, and the Burl Walnut wood trim. It has 31,6xxx, were leaning towards this one so I guess I'll have to pay the $800 to certify it and have the 125,000 mile warranty. This one is better optioned, cheaper, and has less miles so were most likely going to go with this one unless one with a better deal turns up.
The plan is to wait a year after the W222 comes out and buy a CPO S550 and my fiance will have the E550
1. Isn't CPO'ed already, and you would have to pay for that certification while the first of the two is certified already?
2. The 2nd car has fewer miles and more equipment, but is less money than the first car?
With respect I apologize in advance if I missed something.
Either way, enjoy whichever you choose!!

I forgot to ask the salesman why the white one was CPO'd and the silver one wasn't. I'm assuming the white one this more expensive because its already CPO'd.
$800 to CPO a car is not bad so get it done if you choose that one. Also, consider negotiating the CPO cost in to the deal on your purchase.

Ahh I'm not sure but definitely before the year is over.Firstly the car can not have any kind of structural damage. Damage/repairs to the bumpers are acceptable. But I think any kind of full panel repair will unqualify a car.
Secondly the car can not be a resold car. ie. If I bought a brand new MB and sold it to the dealer they can CPO it. But if I bought a CPO car from MB and then resold it back to MB, they can't CPO it because of the resale.
GL on your search. Most people here on the forums bought brand new with great incentives. I was going to buy another CPO W211, but decided paying that extra 10K+ to buy a new W212 was worth the peace of mind. Because of my experience w/ buying a lemon CPO, I will never again buy a used MB unless it's a toy (clunker/classic).
Not sure how good the new engines are on the 2012 W212s, but killer deals can be had on the older model 2011 W212s. I got mine brand new out the door a year ago for under 49K. I'm sure if I got the same car now, I could probably knock another 1-2K off of that.
