The bulb has nothing to do with the cut off. That has to do with the projector housing.

2007 e350 sport. 2010 350 4matic sport. Worlds first W212 E63R self built.
Had some free time and a bunch if oem HID kits laying around, I'm in the bodyshop business so I tend to save them. Now what I have discovered is that you do not need a cancellation box at all as long as you get your power from the actual wires that plug in to the stock bulb. All I did was get electric male ends slide them right into the neg- pos+. And that was my power sourse. No need to have a bunch of boxes clogging up the engine bay. I know all the aftermarket kits are plug and play but if your pretty handy and have an idea you can save yourself the added complexity of another box. I'm not sure how the aftermarket kits hook up but there has to be a reason try throw a code. I took pictures of how I did them I just can't seem to load them with my iphone

I disagree about the Mtec kit may offer a better cutoff...the cutoff is based on your projectors or reflector bowls design. Thats why you see a bunch of ppl (at least not in this forum) doing headlight retrofits.

Thanks CAPTJ3 and PHML for clarifying that for me. So why the higher price for the MTEC, just because they can?

Some say because its made in Japan...but I can't confirm that. Its also probably due the tons of advertising and marketing thats driving the cost up. I see their advertisments in magazines here and there.

yes, mtec claimed that the kit is made in japan. everything made in japan is more expensive. but the problem is are they 100% made in japan? could be just the packages, labels, and instructions but everything else is made in china, indonesia or india. who knows? are they better than other "generic" hid kit? i don't know. haven't compared two side by side. i didn't get the mtec kit but still very happy w/what i have. yes, hid kit can't compare w/factory bi-xenon but light years better than the yellow bulbs.
