"check tire pressure"
When I turn off my 2011 e350 bluetec, I keep seeing a message..."check tire pressure" (or something like that) with tire pressures showing. The pressures are within 1 pound of the recommended tire pressures shown on the inside of the fuel cover.
Do others get this message? Is this some sort of error or is this normal because it doesn't make any sense.

+1 to what Don said. Let the car sit overnight, adjust all the tire preassures to what you desire them to be the following morning (I go with what is on the fuel flap) then reset the tire pressure monitor and it will ask you if it should take the current measurement as the new base values. Say yes and you should be done.

I keep discovering things about this car....and I'm a techie.
One has to wonder how the average owner ever figures out all the non obvious features. If you are reading this, you are not the average owner

The car doesn't know what the recommended pressure is. You have to tell it what pressure you want it to consider normal by going through the TPMS reset procedure. When you have the tire pressures where you want them, which may be where they are now, do the reset and the TPMS system will use those pressures as normal.

The dealer is supposed to set the pressure and reset the system to the proper baseline. They don't, so what you are seeing is a drop from whatever value it was set to at the factory. That drop can be time dependent (1psi a month) or temperature related (1psi for every 10 degrees of temperature)
