Call From Unknown
Call From Unknown
Hey all, having a reallllllllllly annoying problem with my car. I searched on here but only came up with one result, and no answer or workaround, so figured I'd post a separate thread. Anyway, my COMAND randomly pops up a message that I have a "Call From Unknown" which I can't pick up. Even better, I look at my phone (Verizon iPhone 4 with iOS 5), and there's nobody calling lol. Usually I'm listening to music, so it stops the music, I clear the phantom call, music comes on, and then BAM! I get the phantom call again. It happens over and over and over and OVER until I turn the car off and take the key out. Even powering the phone down doesn't help. It's superrrrrrr annoying, well beyond that actually, and I'm unsure of what to do to make it stop. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re-copy your phone book. If you add numbers, the names are not automatically copied. The number will show up unknown or the number itself. This will also happen if the caller is blocking their caller id.

I've heard about that before but I don't remember what the solution was.

Boy I sure misread that. Is it possible that it has something to do with mBrace? It has it's own cellular network access. Just a wild assed guess.
I vaguely remember someone else with that problem, and I have a vague feeling that unpairing and re-pairing the phone helped. I have a phobia of connecting wifi and bluetooth, so I probably got the ******* when I read that.

That rings a bell and unpairing and rebooting the phone, then re-pairing is always step one in resolving BT issues.

I just got a call like that this morning...my first UNKNOWN...nobody was on the other end of the line. I have the Iphone 4S 32gig with AT&T....did not upgrade to iOS 5 yet.
Sounds like for of an iphone issue than the car.

lol thanks for the replies. I tried unpairing and repairing the phone, so let's see if that helps. The problem happens so randomly, I won't even know if it worked until it happens again, and if it does, I might throw the phone out the friggin window. Being that the problem persists even when I turn the phone off, that won't even help, but I might do it anyway lol. Thanks again guys =)
I had a similar problem especially with my previous W211. It really brings me crazy, because all electronics stop responding during that and no any sound from speakers. The condition eventually is getting gone, perhaps after 10 minutes. So what I figured it is a bug in BT module, so some phone activity is considered as a call by COMMAND and it brings the system in this condition. The problem completely has gone after I changed phone. Previous phone was HTC Windows mobile, I hope it helps.

If you do not have BT audio streaming, maybe use this as an excuse to get your Comand updated. BT audio streaming is great. I have it on my 2009 build. I got all the systems in my car updated, and believe me it fixed a lot of minor odd issues and deficiencies. Might just fix your problem too.
