25 mile drive without a key, funny story.
I just wanted to share this story with everyone, especially to let people know that you can drive your car(keyless go) without the key. So I was out with a friend of mine and a couple of girls on saturday night. My buddy wanted to go out and celebrate(show off) his purchase of a new Ferrari 458, so we went to a local bar/lounge near my house. My buddy doesn't drink that much, but got pretty drunk, actually real drunk. I ended up carrying him out with the help of the owner of the bar(friend of mine), and putting him in my car with one of the girls to drive him. I drove the Ferrari and headed toward my house to put his car in my garage for the night(my house was closer, his house was about 20 miles away). After I parked his car, the girl driving My car got out of the drivers seat for me to get in and drive my friend home. About a mile down the road my dash lights up,"key not detected", so I asked the girl that is now in the back seat if she had my key and she said its in her purse, so I proceeded. During the 20 mile drive, My dash went off maybe 3 times, but the car was still driving normal. I didn't bother asking the girls to find my key since they were attending to my drunk friend. After I got to his house I shut my car off and got my friend inside and safe. Went outside to leave and key not detected, and no key in the girls purse, pockets or anywhere. Car would not start, had to call another friend to go to my house and get my spare key for me and drive it to where I was. He called when he got to my house and said that as he pulled in my driveway, he seen my key on the ground.... As the girl got out at my house to switch seats she dropped it in my driveway....AWESOME Anyway, I got my key, got home safe and had a nice brand new 458 in my garage. As long as my friend was safe, I just had to smile at a hectic night, and I only got to have one drink(thankfully). Back to the topic, I am surprised that my car would keep driving without a key present in the car, and drive for that long. I would think there would be a safety kill, or something if a key wasn't even close to the car as a security device for theft. Sorry such a long story, just thought it was funny.

This is a funny story and thanks for sharing sounds like a scene out of a comedy movie
Well, I also would like to know whether the car shuts on its own if key is not detected . I mean you start your car and throw the key out of window or hand in someone you know .Of course you don't wanna throw it lol Actually, it should shut down the engine for security reason after a while

Yeah, I was surprised that it kept driving like everything was normal, just the dash would light up once in a while. If I had a full tank of gas in my car and went out of my house to warm it up and came back in for a second, someone could jump into it and drive it until its out of gas(as long as they don't shut it off).... Thats crazy to me.

That is really unusual. I dropped our car at the valet and forgot to give him the key. The car didn't go 50 feet before it lost power.
The new E we are looking at has P2, so I hope your case is just a hickup and not the norm!

I had my car through valet before and they took my car about 7 blocks away from where I was and I still had the key. I obviously had to give it to them to get my car started, but again, it was pretty far away. I feel it just shouldn't run at all once out of range of a certain distance.

I didn't take any photos under the circumstances, but I will in the future and post. Its red and real cool to drive. I have driven some Lambo's before, and some older Ferrari's, but this thing was trick. The paddle shifted tranny was quick and fun, but the center cluster of gauges/lcd screen was ridiculous(in a good way). The 360 Modena(which is just like the 430)I drove before seems so plain compared to this car. This might be my favorite car right now, the styling is a work of art. I'm going to try to get my buddy to drink more often so I can drive it more.....lol

My Infiniti M had "keyless go" and on a couple of times I walked from the car with the keyfob in my pocket while it was running. It kept running but started to emit a steady warning beep. The keyfob never got more than about 10 feet while the car was running so I have no idea what would have happened in a situation like yours.
