Just took delivery of my 2012 E550 4 matic
Took delivery last friday. The dealer who I've dealt with before had the car all ready for me with all the accessories installed I had negotiated with the car. I had to drive 125 miles home so had a chance to drive it on the highway. My wife followed me in her car.
My first reaction was WOW! What a beautiful handling car. It's solid, very smooth and extremely quiet. I have yet to learn all the different functions this car does. The distronic plus was impressive on the highway. As I was driving going around corners I had the sides of the seats moving from one side to another depending on the lean to help support me in the driver's seat to massaging my back.
I was varying the speed I travelled so didn't hit the engine to see what it would do.
So, my first impressions were:
Very smooth engine and quiet
Very smooth ride with the airmatic. I haven't driven an E350 for awhile so can't really compare but the ride was very smooth and solid. The car drives very solid and the steering is very precise.
The car inside was solid, just a dream.
You can see the quality and engineering in the car.
And, it's an head turner for sure.
It's paladium silver with black leather inside with ash trim.
Now, before I paid for the car, I had them put a dealer plate on so I could take it for a test run to make sure everything was to my liking. I took the car onto a bumpy road( no pot holes) and was going about 50 MPH and the car road great with no bottoming out of the suspension. It was smooth and switched from sport mode to comfort several times. You could feel a suttle difference as the rear seemed to raise ever so slightly. The sport mode was good and I'll probably just leave it there. I swung around and picked up 2 freinds who lived nearby to see what it rode like with extra weight. I had the car in sport mode and the ride was no different with 4 people. Again, smooth and quiet.
Anyway, I thought I would post this report.
