Gas Tank Overflow
So today, I was filling up the E (yay lower gas prices!) and for whatever reason the pump malfunctioned and did not stop even though the tank was full. The gas began to gush back out (i noticed fairly quickly) through the filling hole but only enough to flood the gas compartment and not to flow down the paint/rear quarter panel. However, I did notice fuel spraying onto my feet as well. I looked down and found a puddle of gas right next to the right rear tire. The gas didn't drip down the paint so I'm assuming the benz had a mechanism that released extra gas through a drainage at the bottom of the car? Am I crazy or did that really happen? Maybe the gas did run down the paint but I didn't notice it? I checked a couple times but gas does evap fast. Any thoughts?

It most likely has an overflow that flows down and through the wheel well, my Audi A4 has the same thing. I believe it's probably designed this way so that it does not flow over the side/paint on purpose.

I'll never understand the people who will set the "ON" lock on the hose and walk away from the car. Trusting the incredibly badly maintained gas pumps.
And the guy at the next pump who is smoking while filling --- and the girl wearing nylon who slides out of the car while her boyfriend is filling the tank and walks over and touches him! KaBooom!

Static electric charge is dangerous and I try to not get in the car and out during filling up or if I get in I touch a metal body part of the car just in case
