AC Zone Control gone crazy...anyone else?
Coming home from SanDiego this afternoon and was ~1hr into my drive and suddenly the AC unit started blowing warm air out of the driver side vents. I thought the whole system shutdown until I opened the passenger vents to find extremely cold air blowing on that side. I turned the system off, went to manual control, set both sides up / down and nothing would stop the hot air from blowing out on the passenger side. I ended up driving home with "max cool" turned on an my drivers vents shut off. I have left the car off for the past hour to hopefully reset.
Has anyone else ever had this happen to them or heard of a similar situation?

Sounds like you have a leak and low on refrigerant, I would let an AC shop put some gauges on the system to confirm level prior to visiting dealer.

Update from this am. AC zone control worked perfectly this am on the drive to work. No issues with dialing up / down either side and modes. Not sure what was going on and only thing I can think of was a temp sensor froze or something similar with the sensor. Drivers side was facing the hot Sothern California for ~60 minutes.

One other possibility is a problem in the air distribution system.
Since your car is still under warranty, I would play with the system to see if you can replicate the problem. Try cycling through the various Mode button settings at various times and see what happens. Also try this if the problem re-occurs.
In any event, probably worth mentioning to the dealer so it's on record during the warranty period. My service department will make a note in the car's service record without bringing it in; others may tell you they can't or won't do that.
Stay cool!

Update - ~1hr drive to and from work with ZERO issues. Seems like a fluke but have called my MB dealer to get the issue on record. My SM was cool about it but of coarse had never heard of anything like that...

I've experienced a different problem (2011 e350 BT)...my AC starts on high for about 30 seconds, then the fan drops to very low for about 15 seconds, then it goes high again and then low again and then normal operation. I'm sure some sensor is going and I'll take it to the dealer when I can reliably recreate the problem. I have never had it drop out or blow warm air....southwest florida with temperatures over 90 most of the time during the day.
