Talking Just picked up 2012 e350 - VERY happy so far.

Hi All,
Ive been shopping for a while and finally got one yesterday which will be my wifes car.

Its white with black iunt and black ash trim.
Pano roof
Active driver seat
P2 package.
lane tracking
driver asst.
7yr/100k warranty

I'd like to know about a couple things - I recall there was a lowering thing on older E class's I think "star ..??.." and I'd also like to know if there are any recommended wheels and pictures... Id like to know what it might look like in the future

Im not going to lower it or get the wheels any time soon...but Id like to know what can be done - and if there are any recommended mods.

Im sure I will have more questions after I have driven the car more than 10 min and read the manual.

Looking forward to great times and no problems in this car.!

-A

Love it! Thanks for sharing. How in the h3ll did you land that warranty? Don't think you can lower with STARS since you don't have airmatic suspension. E350's are equipped with springs. But ask questions, the cast here is great with answering them. Enjoy it!

thanks guys - what do you mean about the warranty...they also offered a 7year/125mile option for alot more.

If I cant lower it what size rims and tires are recommended to fill the gap.

I'm also thinking about ordering a rear spoiler and would like to know if the bottom grill in the front comes out easily so I can get it chromed or if chrome ones are available. Also where can I get clear side markers for the front. ???

Thanks all ... as you can tell im excited

Darn the owners manual is so SO long!!! Been reading it the last two nights...

It's worth the read
You are doing a good job , it's not that common that buyers read owners manuals lol

I have learnt a few cool things thanks to reading it , I am not bored at all either . It's like reading a car mag to me lol

Comand Manual itself is too long and thick too

18": front 235/45, rear 265/40 (IMHO, its not going to look good)

19": front 235/40, rear 265/35

20": front 235/35, rear 265/30 or 275/30

But since its your wife's car, why get extra attention?

Thanks for the size info -- I like my cars to be a little diff than the rest thats why I want the wheels.

I also do not like to have staggered sizes ... front and rear same size -- is there a recommendation with that in mind?

Great car! You can't lower the car on a 350, the 550s have the Airmatic which lets you change the height on the fly. You would have to cut the springs

You can use any of the "front" sizes specified above at all four corners.

You don't have to cut the springs -_-. You can just buy lowering springs.

thanks all -- Couple of questions --
Yesterday I noticed some interior noise; as if some panel is a little loose on the drivers door -- I also noticed that the wood trim has a line going through it ... what should i do?
I also noticed that the steering wheel is not 100% straight when driving on the freeway.

Are these things I should go tell the dealer - or am I being a bit too picky.

60k+ i would think it should all be 100%

Please see the picture of the dash where the wood shows a seem ? Let me know what you all think I should do.

Thank you,
A

Congrats on the ride!
Two recommendations. You and wife should both read ALL the manuals in detail, including the maintenance booklet. Make notes, highlight things and prepare list of questions for dealer or MBUSA. I made some cheat sheets for various operations of the car and the COMAND system and keep them in console.
Would also keep a list of things to address with dealership at first service if not before. Make sure they enter it onto the work order and in computer. This way you are protected if a problem develops later.
Enjoy!

Darn I just looked at the detailed pic and that is NOT what I'm talking about

It is very noticeable when sitting in the car

I will take another picture later tonight but for the time being
I'm talking about a verticle line on the middle of my picture
The wood is noticeably darker on the right side of the seem

Don't worry xolinlevh I will not cut the springs

I'm thinking that lowering it is not a good option and not gonna happen
I'll try filling the gap with bigger wheels

I think your not because I have looked at my interior and namely the wood you posted ,it looks better than faded wood trim but still yours should be in perfect state too , not in this shape

no, you are not too picky. just they are being lousy ! like what you said, the right side is much darker than the left and that's unacceptable. isn't it suppose to be one piece of wood? now it looks like two pieces and worst of all, unmatched color . take it back and have them change it for you. they have to! if they tell you they can't see any problem, sit in another car on their lot and go back to your car. don't let them fool you!
