rear deck lid spoiler wants to pop up at corners
has anyone else had this issue? the car has been in for this repair once. they supposedly removed the deck lid spoiler and re-double sided taped it down. a few days later you can stack two quarters under the passenger side of it. not acceptable in my opinion. any advice? im calling the service manager today but i doubt he will care.

Reference bulletin LI88.50-P-053768 "incorrect installation" documents re-gluing of spoiler already installed is not permissible adhesive residues must be completely removed and new spoiler installed. PM your email address if you want a copy.

Trunk lip spoilers are easy to install, but tough to do a perfect job.
It is very uncommon to see a factory installed one lift on the corners (i've never seen it happen), but dealer installed is another story.
I always do mine myself to avoid someone not being as precise as me.

Please read my post under spoiler install. The adhesive I used for my spoiler from BMW is specifically made for spoiler installations. Double sided tape is a cheap and temporary fix. I'am a little disappointed that MB would even think that double sided tape would hold up. Now Iam sorry i ordered the spoilers on my car like busta said if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. Geez this reminds me of when i installed the hatchback spoiler on my 85 celica gts with double sided tape.

thanks guys! i KNEW someone here would know whats up with this thing. it IS a factory installed spoiler and of course like you all said it has double sided tape. the service manager did NOT reference the bulletin and originally stated he has had multiple complaints on this issue and they were going to try windshield adhesive on the corners. then he called back and said, "we are going to order a new spoiler and then try adhesive on the corners."
I will PM you my email address for that bulletin. thanks a ton. im guessing MB states order a new spoiler with the same crappy double sided tape and just redo what was done at the factory and OBVIOUSLY doesnt work???? that seems dumb to me.....

Exactly when the new spoiler comes in just tell them to give it to you. Then install yourself using adhesive. If you use the BMW betalink adhesive your problems will be solved. If and when mine peels off this is what i will be doing.

there was a previous thread regarding this issue....
mine spoiler is aftermarket oem, and it popped up 3 times. used 3M tapes and didn't work.
i'm waiting for the weather to turn better and this time i'm using silicon glue.
