Alternate side marker mods

So i bought a pair of smoked side marker replacements so i could get rid of the ugly orange ones. Sat down to try to install them today, after 30 grueling min to get everything off, i noticed that the replacements i got, dont fit the little clip at the very front of them, which sorta hooks onto the body panel, is to narrow, and short of gouging and scraping the **** out of the car to make it fit....i couldnt get it on no matter how i tried. so after another annoying 20 min of replacing everything which then resulted in me dropping and stepping on my very nice pair of sunglasses, im now right back where i started, only out several hundred bucks....

That being said i dont want to go through all that again i if i buy yet another pair of replacement markers from some sketchy *** ebayer. So im curious what other ways there are to modify the markers that dosent involve so much work.....

I see these by EVOSport.com Pre-painted to match, sounds liek they are just caps that go right over the amber ones....but thats a crap load of money...

I read every guide on here before doing em, im really timid when it comes to modifying the car myself. And i dont know any shop around MN whos good with mercedes mods so anything that i do i have to do myself. Really wanna find a easier way to get rid of these =/

that does appear to be a frustrating story.......
maybe you could color match them with some paint....
can't remember your car color....

I guess I'm lucky to have a specialty MB shop not terribly
far from my house...they
got mine from someplace, I don't even know where..
...but kudos for having the desire to get it done....and going for it

the smoked on my 550 had to be slightly modified because as yours, a couple
of the tabs were to small....
maybe you could figure out a way to mod them so they get a firm, tight fit
I thought there was a side marker thread somewhere
good luck

Hmm. My cars regular old black. Really wish there was a good Benz shop around here that I could use, also looking at the Wald black bison rear and a E63 bumper, no way I could paint match those and install myself. I may give it another shot doing a bit of filing the clip down to fit. Just wish there was a easy snap on replacement

Same thing with mine...the good news is, if you file down that front clip, they fit really tight. I used a dremel tool to shave it after fighting with it like you did.

Same here. Took out an old filer and filed the clip down by several millimeters. That worked well and the new marker fit very nicely.

Sorry to hear that. I was lucky I guess, didn’t need to adjust anything. Turned the wheel took 2 clips out and 10 min later was done. Had couple of scratches on my hand but that’s because I was lazy and didn’t wanna remove more clips. Had a little hard time installing it in comparison to removal process as it was really snug but it fits perfectly with no movement at all and looks like OEM. Got orange LED's and really happy with the new look.

Hey sorry about the bad news regarding fitment. I used the Depo ones that are led and if you have same in running light they look amazing and fit perfectly. Install was easy and as described on the forum.

Check out the pics in my garage for reference.

Hopefully that helps

I live in Washington and we have 4 Starbucks and 4 cops on every intersection.
Driving with my front license plate in the trunk already…
Don’t want to give our friendly police officer another reason to stop me

Good Choice and let me know how it goes on install and look. Keep in mind that when you do install it will be a little tight but do not take out the old bracket. Keep that in place with your hand and use the new LED light without the bracket to hook into the old bracket. This is easier then replacing the light with the bracket.
