BEST SELLERS IN THE 10 RICHEST ZIP CODES
So it turns out the rich are just like the rest of us. At least some of them are.
TrueCar.com has ranked the best-selling cars in America's top 10 wealthiest zip codes with more than 1,000 taxpayers, and a few very common cars made the list, including the Toyota Camry at number nine and seventh-place Honda CR-V.
The eco-chic Toyota Prius, which was the top-selling car in both Ross, Calif. (avg. income: $497,000), just outside San Francisco, and Century City, Calif. (avg. income: $751,000), home to MGM and 20th Century Fox Studios, finished in fifth place across the nation.
As for the richest zip on the list, Manhattan's Upper East Side 10274, where residents take in an average of $5,711,000 per year, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class came in first, as it did nationwide, followed across the nation by the BMW 328 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Here's the full top-ten:
1. Mercedes-Benz E-Class
2. BMW 328
3. Mercedes-Benz C-Class
4. Lexus RX
5. Toyota Prius
6. Volkswagen Jetta
7. Honda CR-V
8. Honda Accord
9. Toyota Camry
10. BMW X5

Some wealthy people just aren't interested in cars, so they buy cheaper 'appliance' type cars like Accord and Camry. Obviously some do prefer higher end cars like the E-Class. The majority probably still don't care about cars very much, but like to have a Benz in the driveway.
These people probably don't lose too much sleep over ride quality, how up to date the electronics are, and how much HP they have, etc. We MBWorld members on the other hand.....

At the same time, the list looks fairly accurate. I drive to Century City very often and it's not uncommon to see a line of E classes at every stop light. However, I am also surprised that the S class didn't make it on the list as well as the Range Rover. Also, I see more of the Prius than the E class
Interesting find!

Tesla
I know some low key wealthy guys in Newport Coast who would drive Toyota/Honda or BMW 3 series, but they would have some super exotics parked in the garage for the weekend.
E-class seems to be a very popular car in upper middle class neighborhoods.

I am really surprised that the Acura MDX did not make that list when the BMW X5, Lexus RX, and the CRV made the list. The MDX is the #1 selling luxury SUV...

Doesn't surprise me. E-Classes are insanely prevalent in wealthier areas.
I guess rich people like the E-Class a helluva lot more than a 5-Series (surprised it didn't make the list).

It seems BMW has been having a lot of issues with their engines, fuel pumps and other mechanical components lately. If they are this bad new imagine their reliability used...

No matter how rich I am I would never quit W212
Good to see , W204 makes the 3rd spot as well
Shame, no GM neither Ford products but some asian cars in the list
