Who else loves the W212?
I also like the stately look and size - definitely a great car.
I'm glad I bought this over the coupe this time around. This car will easily last me 3 years before my next one.
here it was some months back......
do you have the hockey stick shaped LED's? I forget......
but that is one of my favorite things about the front end....
and the headlamps
The hockey stick LEDs are definitely very cool and very W212. I don't have those, I have the 2 circle lights because I do not have the HID package. No biggie... still looks mean.
didn't realize that was the difference between P1 and P2 packages. I am going for a flat badge and the Start Grille soon.

It rides better than other cars I have driven as well
When I first saw the W212 body style in Europe, I told my wife I'd never buy one. I still don't like the style but it's growing on me.
Otherwise, it's hard to fault this vehicle. The trunk is smaller than the W211 and the power trunk mechanism takes up even more space. On the other hand, I appreciate the extra rear leg room.
I use the AirMatic to raise the car when parking over high curbs. The Sport mode hunkers down on Interstates. On the other hand, AirMatic has poor shock rebound control compared to every other Mercedes we've owned dating back to 1984.
But I still really dislike the interior and it has not grown on me. I realize this is subjective and some might have no problem with it but personally I don't feel the interior is classy or elegant enough to be in an E class and I'm disappointed they went more C class than S class for the design inspiration. If I were in charge of redesigning the interior I'd take away the rulers and trapezoids from the designers and ask them to use their imagination with some curves and color outside the box to come up with a more flowing and graceful interior.
What I really want to see with the E class redesign is if they have made the interior more flowing and elegant. Though I don't need the extra space, I might be forced to consider the S class (and the associated cost) for my next car because I dislike the current interior that much. I really don't want to do that as the S class is a statement of excess on wheels and I can do without the extra attention -- especially when I have to negotiate and drive hard bargains for my company. The E class just lets you drive a nice car and still cruise a bit under the radar. I really hope something gets done to make the interior better.

I do admit to buying three E-Class in the last 8 years but I could very well still be driving the 2004 E320.
