Wheels went up a notch
So, I bought a set of OEM 18" five spoke (I like classic) that were delivery miles with the TPMS and ContiProContact tires. Staggered. Wasn't sure I was going to do this on the Bluetec, but went that way anyway.

Now I'm not going to sell my OEM 17" and just get some snow tires for them. Will sell some tires though, keep an eye out!

Here's the before and after.

I had my OEM wheels replaced same as yours as well (before pic ) . I am keeping them same as yours lol

Your new wheels nice but mines are different styling , not same as yours this time lol

Agree. Should get some good pics on road trip in a couple weeks. Lake Superior is always a good backdrop.

wow those are some bold/thick wheels.......better than those other weird ones though...

I knew the ride would change. I expected more compliance getting rid of the runflats. I also expected there would be some body thumps with the low sidewall.

Drove around town today a while and as I suspected it's much better with these wheels and tires. The steering firmed up, thank goodness. The ride is smoother, but the chassis seems more buttoned down. Haven't had any freeway runs but this is a huge improvement so far. Will update more. Trip planned in the next few weeks for about 1,500 miles of fun roads. If it doesn't snow when I get real north!

Finally got out to stretch their legs today. Cruised for a while at 75 - 85mph. Touched 90 for a bit. Really wasn't even passing many people. Detroit freeways are almost lawless in most areas. Point being the car was great. Huge improvement. Even my wife noticed it smoothed out. Not so jarring over every expansion joint.

Now the tire pressures. They were cold showing around 36f/38r and only went up to 40 f/r from what I noticed. I may try a little up in the back. Anyway, great move to this setup. I'd recommend it over the run flats without hesitation.

Any idea about the weight of these good looking 5 spokes over the AMG? Both 18 inches.

No idea. The spokes and design of the wheel seem to add mass for sure. But, with tires this slim I would prefer the extra meat. Hope there won't be any issues with bends. Never had issues before.

So, on Sunday I go through the same car wash I always use. In the middle a thump. My wife heard it also. Then at home I notice a chip in the passenger front wheel. They have video, so we'll see today what happens. Hope they make it right. Stay tuned. For sure I'm ticked.

So doesn't this suck?? Car wash is looking at his video, but this will be hard to prove. No scratches around it, just a weird impact to a brand new rim.

Nice wheels, I actually prefer yours over the 18 inch double spokes AMGs on my 550.

Thanks for the feedback. Like I wrote previously, I like the classic look. And they are easier to clean!
