Plus Fisker ran off to Finland with American dollars stuffed in their pockets.
Other than the questionable Fisker reliability, the most telling figures about the Fisker was in a story last week. It's the length and weight of a Chevy Tahoe and the interior space is about the same as a Ford Focus. There was a marketing car in our downtown area last weekend while we were out and it was very funny to see how much effort/trouble people had getting in and out also.

To echo the above, our E is our interstate monster ... much better than our Lexus RX450h hybrid, that barely leave the city limits. The E cruises so smoothly, you're missing a great ride if you don't take it out for a long drive ...

I actually just played around with the model-s last Friday at work. I thought it was a jaguar xf when I first saw it from the front and side profile. Definetly resembles the panmera as well.

The center console screen reminds me of a huge iPad lol. It literally feels like the same screen when you touch it and scroll through Web pages and vehicle options.

The one thing I do love about this car is that you can never get bored especially when your in park. Having a huge iPad with lightning fast Internet in front of you is pretty shabby.

W203 slightly modified
Clearly it must have about 150 miles of range if they fail to mention it once.

When I watched the video, I kept waiting for the reviewer to mention it. So I assumed that it was going to be a crappy range.
But the fact that it wasnt mentioned is the fault of the reviewer and has nothing to do with Tesla.
For the Model S Performance the range is 300mi. That's the one I want because it has to at least come close to the performance I get from my E550.
Other Models:
40kwh (160mi) $49,900
60kwh (230mi) $59,900
85kwh (300mi) $69,900

IMO the Tesla is pretty ugly. The Fisker I think is on a whole other level in terms of exterior design, however the Fisker seems even more exotically unconventional.

Problem with all these cars is lack of support. They're essentially "Startups" of which you're spending big bucks to get one of the most fundamentally essential requirements: Reliable transportation. At the same time, greatness has to start somewhere, and these cars are very unique and exotic right now.

Both have reports of shoddy workmanship here and there (see: "Lack of support"). In that C&D Video O/P posted, there's a part where they do a sweep of the side profile.... you can see heavy panel gaps between the doors and doors to fenders, and the under-window chrome lining doesn't even line up between all said panels. To an "exactness" freak like me, that stuff bugs me to the highest of degrees.

$60K for a car that would require an overnight charge (if I was lucky enough to find a charging point) if I were to drive it to NYC? If traveling alone I'd have better luck making such a trip on my bike (the pedal type).

The most "exotic" type of car I'll ever even *consider* buying is a diesel hybrid, perhaps something like the E300 that MB displayed at this year's Detroit Auto Show.

These things are starting to "generate" real heat. I'm starting to come around, though the styling isn't "perfect" to me nor really "my thing" just yet, but does have some really nice elements. Major fit/finish issues which I find unacceptable to an especially Luxury Car like door panels not aligning and/or having too wide of gaps, chrome trim along the greenhouse also clunkily not aligning, etc., seemed to appear on many early models BUT seem to be getting resolved as newer production ramps out. I'd never take a Premium Car seriously with lacking fit/finish or attention to detail, so when I saw those were at least somewhat mended on a newer Model S, I started paying closer attention.

Elon Musk is seeming to be heralded as maybe our only option for "another Steve Jobs of our generation" thus far, is showing similar door-kicking innovation, energy and "cool-factor" amidst the general public and Wall Street as Apple has during its push up to becoming worlds most valuable and inspirational company, and of course, TSLA stock has rocketed (which I've traded around a bit myself lately).

So, any updated thoughts? Any previous naysayers as well starting to come around?

I've gone the other way a bit. The touted 300 mile range only occurs when all the electric consumer stars line up and with the lack of quick charging stations it looks like the usable range for the top model is more like 100 miles (one way). Now I see it as a great short range/urban car unless you have a destination with charging capabilities and the time to charge it.

Product wise? I don't think they've had any problems there. Though Fisker is apparently doing awfully.

But yeah, if you're referring to the Dealer Network thing, then they're facing some issues, particularly in your neck of the woods. The Dealer networks are basically ganging up on them by way of trying to ban them from their unique way of getting foot traffic (in popular shopping malls/streets, etc.). Tesla's retail strategy is pretty brilliant actually, especially in how Musk describes whey they went that route on the Tesla site.
