Total Benz devastation in my neighborhood. Luckily my E and ML were Parked at mine and my fathers work so they made it out unharmed, but my family lost 4 cars that were completely submerged up to the windows in over 6' of water in the driveway. Just in the 2 blocks around me were two totaled s550's, an e350 coupe, three c's ,a cayenne, 750, 650 convertible and a 535M. Luckily everyone was ok and it is only stuff but still so hard to see as a car fanatic. This was really unlike anything I've ever seen here in NYC

I did not mean to make light of your horrible situation. We had it tough in CT as well, I was very lucky: trees down an a broken fence.

Stay strong.

So sorry, but the cars can be replaced, your family can't.

Stay safe,
Don

Best wishes to all who were affected by Sandy...and a speedy return to normalcy.

Thank you, as always there are people who had it worse and my heart goes out to them, even though we were all anticipating it nobody thought it would be this bad, especially since we were largely spared from Irene. Thankfully everyone is ok and at the end of the day it is all just stuff. Hopefully we will be welcoming a new Benz into the family in the next couple weeks, once we get the house livable again. To me the most cringeworthy moment had to be my neighbor telling us how their s550 was lifted up by the surge water and was being slammed against their house the whole night. Still makes me sick!!

Leaves are harmful to the paint and you should not park under trees or it should be last resort . Not to mention risk of falling the tree

Sorry to hear loss of cool cars

We survived, Benz in garage, power back on 12:15 this morning, no damage to house or property, debris all over the ground, life is grand, thank God. And that's from 2 miles inland from Barnegat Bay, NJ and 30 miles north of Atlantic City, which was ground zero for landfall.
I do wish those that received damage from the storm a safe return to normality.
Sincerely.

First and foremost, I'm glad that people are safe. However, every time I see a submerged or otherwise destroyed car, I wonder why these people wouldn't spend $25 on a garage that day? This is coming from someone who parks on NYC streets all the time, but during a major storm with imminent flooding and tree-falling possibilities? C'mon people

It just amazes me that no matter how hard the wind blows or the rains fall, bird craps stays on the car. Even Sandy was no match.

Dodged a bullet in DE but was watching the video of NYC and NJ and my heart goes out to you guys. As much as we love our cars, they can be replaced, family and friends cannot. Glad you guys are OK.
