Bought out my lease on my E350

I bought out the lease because I could not let it go.

It's officially mine today!

This car has been such a pleasure to own and drive that I had to keep it. Now, I can work on a 911.. <me><wife>

My car runs and rides great so being a strong car I decided to keep it. I also like styling like the hockey stick DRLs, pontoon fenders etc. I don't think the restyling is too impressive so far.
This car will be a part of the permanent collection. Besides, I'm not too confident in the Direct injection or start & stop technologies yet. I want to see DI with a half a million miles on it.

My next "other" car will be a pure sports car like a 911 or an SL.

SL is a fantastic car, but "sports car" (especially "pure" at that) it is not.

I am very pleased to see you bought your car , your car inspired me into buying clear LEDs
R231 SLs are awesome , but being two door therefore you have no passenger seat in the back and smaller trunk size it's surely not as practical as W212s

However, R231s are my dream two doors no longer Aventador lol Well aside from primitive looking A/C controls

Thanks! The R231 would be a second car so practical wouldn't be an issue. If I were to trade the W212 it would be for a CLS.

Congratulations. Since I pay cash, mine has been mine since day one. I seem to have gotten the E that MB promised me. It has been a great car.

Have you considered a Cayman? I actually prefer it to the 911. Although the new 911 is pretty sexy, I lost a lot of interest when they went to water cooled engines. Just seemed to lose something for me.

Thanks, I think I have received one that MB has promised too. That is why I bought it out. Also, I will never lease again. Cash is the way to go

I just hit two years this past November. I have almost 45k on the dial, and, all have been trouble free. I have the $0 deductible extended warranty for 7yrs/100k miles which should see me through 4-5 years of covered ownership. I have a fairly long commute each day, and, my E has proven to be the most comfortable car I have owned to date to as a highway cruiser/daily driver. I believe my battery may be getting a bit weak and I will likely replace it soon, but, with all the power these things draw after the car is turned off for convenience and the lihting when the doors are first opened, I would expect the batteries to get hammered pretty good. I am noticing on very cold mornings a bit of hesitation in the electronics. A new, even higher capacity, battery will take care of that. I only have a couple "rattles" that only occur over pretty serious rough roads and bumps. Under normal driving conditions, the car is just as solid as a rock. With the extended warranty I have no worries of any major expense occuring just normal wear an tear costs. BTW, I have the Bluetec, and, MB diesel cars are legendary for durabilty. I wanted something that was as rugged and efficient as a Moroccan Taxi, but luxurious. In all honesty, there was no other car in the E size that fit the bill. A truly unique vehicle.

I also received what I was promised with my W212, lol strange that is such an accomplishment these days.

Own two MBs right now, thinking of trading 1 in on a lease but really can't see that many advantages. I am in a state though where the tax works out pretty badly against you...

Every time I see the dealer he wants me lease another car. He's just trying to move a car every two years and I just don't buy into it. These vehicles are supposed to be strong long term ownership and I want to enjoy it as long as I can. Maybe I can earn a MB mileage badge?

their 6 gran coupe is one sexy machine as well . if you are in the market of a 6 figures second car, there are quite a few options. the new viper, perhaps ?

I have owned over the years 5 SL's, the last one a new 2004 SL500. I have also owned 6 Porsches. Before you buy either one of those cars, drive them. They are completely different. First the Porsche 911 is 1000lbs lighter and a true sports cars. It is very stiff and handles well at very high speeds. It is a great track car and basically useless but fun to own. On the other hand, the SL550 is a grand touring car not much different than driving an E550 only with more curb appeal.

They are right when they say there is no substitute. That doesn't mean you will like it.

That's great advice ! Thanks! They are so different in personality it's almost impossible to choose. I have driven the 911 several times and I can't stop smiling. I would like an air box Porsche like a 995 or earlier or the 997.
How was your experience with the Porsche? I heard you have to buy tires every 9000-10000 miles and every service is a thousand bucks!
