When I had my BMW it maintained the call even with the ignition off and the key out until I closed the call then all would drop out?

I think it shuts COMAND off when you turn the car OFF and open the door. My COMAND stays ON until I open the door. I have Keyless-GO though so it could be different without it.

Another advisory, if you are on a bluetooth connected call through the vehicle and using the NAV system, pay attention, the verbal instructions are superseded by the phone call. Kind of obvious but it can catch you if you are dependent on the verbal reminders as the NAV screen is superseded by the phone screen also.

I haven't tried this as I turn off bluetooth on the phone and start talking on it before I get out. good to know so I will make sure I continue to do this.

Perhaps COMAND is sending a hang up command to the phone or not implementing the handoff correctly.
As an example, when I shut off my BT earpiece that I'm using with the phone, the call stays active and audio reverts to the phone. One would expect the car to function similarly.
So, if I'm still on the call after I've parked and need to head out of the car I select the "handset" option on the phone (BB 9700) and that kills the BT connection but keeps the call live on the phone.

). Perhaps MB thought this is a safety issue but it looks like a bug to me too. It should be OK to leave hands-free mode when the ignition is turned off anyway.
