Another iPod Question...
So - I have a 5th Gen iPod - Model MA444LL (no A). When I plug it in (2010 E550), I get a "Incompatible Device" message. I assume it is what it is and I need a newer iPod?
Thanks
be sure to unpair phone then pair new....then turn car off...turn car on and should work

I did try a reboot - no change. Interestingly, I can be driving along listening to Sirius, and all of a sudden "USB 9" pops up and it starts playing songs from my iPod. It seems to be in shuffle mode and I can change songs, but have no control of folders. Some of the songs list artist/song, some don't. Next time I try to access from the menu, I get device unsupported. Weird.
So, can I simply request update NTG 4.5 along with a symptom of dropped cell connectivity, or do I need to be even more vague with my request?

NTG 4.0 and 4.5 are completely different systems with different SW levels and different chipsets.

I am well aware of the document you posted. It is a guide for dealers what telematics flashware discs to keep in relation to the available NTG's and available XENTRY software.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Had to tell my service manager I was not happy as:
- I asked about the issue initially, and he said the older iPods were not supported (hence pouring over the forums for an authoritative answer)
- When I went back in for another minor issue, I asked if he would look in to it. He reported they tried several iPods they had there (forgot to bring mine) and they all worked.
- So I went out and bought a used Gen 5 iPod. Same issue.
- Brought the car in this week specifically for the iPod issue. Low and behold, they find the wrong cable installed....
So, in summary - he wasn't truthful about testing other iPods. Was wrong about older iPod support. I bought an un-needed iPod. Not happy!
I settled for a set of (free) all-weather MB floor mats, and a change of preferred service reps...
