Another W212 with Vossen CV3 wheels
I've been looking at so many wheels lately my head's been spinning. I wanted to get the Vossen CV5 but Vossen doesn't make the correct offsets for the w212 so I went with the CV3 (my second choice), in 20" staggered.
I know I know, per Hyperion667, Vossen CV3's are played out... but they still look decent to me and I haven't seen them on any cars in my area yet -- so they're not played out in my eyes. I just can't wait months for the CV5 to be available with no definite date from Vossen... I want them now.
I just got them installed today. Here's an early cell phone pic. I'll do a photoshoot with my SLR camera this weekend.

No plasti-dipping or powder coating these wheels unless I decide to get my car wrapped in a flat orange color.
These wheels do look super easy to clean and the calipers and rotors do show through nicely. Though now I can see the stock calipers and rotors and they're looking a bit small and plain. Guess I'll be researching which calipers and rotors to get next.

The wheels are 20x8.5 ET44 Fronts and 20x10 ET55 Rears. Tires are 245/30/20 fronts and 275/30/20 rears.
I lowered the car around 2 weeks ago with H&R Springs. If you decide to do it, I posted a DIY write-up for it here:

(Whoops.. just noticed some comments on there I haven't replied to).
Thanks Tomspo!

Would a 35 profile be too much tire for the wheel well? I understand going with 30 since they are 20' and it helps out with clearance. I imagine it must be a hassle though in pothole heavy cities/freeways. I've kinda noticed a lot of people using & recommending 30's on this forum too... I've always ran and considered 35 profile to be somewhat of a benchmark for ride comfort.

Hahaha. I figured I should get that out there before you had a chance to say they're played out.

Thanks BM2BZ & Esm.
It seems there are several people on here running 235/35/20 in the front. 245/35/20 will rub the shock mount as per various threads and according to the wheel store where I got the tires.
For the rears, the right size would be 285/25/20 as that's the closest in diameter to our stock rears. But I'm finding the 275/30/20 (about 4% bigger in diameter) works out perfectly... no rubbing whatsoever. In fact, I'm starting to think I should have went with 285/30/20 as the rims stick out a bit pass the tires and the tires look like they're a bit stretched.
If you're concerned with potholes in the roads/freeways in your area, you might want to consider 19" wheels.
Powder-coat it! The e550s have the AMG calipers right?
Thanks, Diego. Those are the exact same sized tires I went with for my setup! Though California Wheels in SJ (where I bought them) recommended I go with 285/30/20 for the rears -- which I'm now wishing I did go that route as the 275s look a bit stretched over the 10"W rears.
The offsets actually look just right to me the way they are now. I'll make sure I take some photos from the side when I do an SLR photoshoot of the car this weekend so you can see the flushness.

Looks amazing. Its called "classic" and you can't go wrong with the CV3

IMO the CV3's are 10x better than the CV5's.
Trying to go with something that is esoteric and not played out is overrated. You end up spending way too much money for a set that will cost a fortune to fix if it ever gets bent or badly curbed just for a little more cred from a bunch of dudes on the street or internet that you will likely never meet. If you want light wheels though, gotta have forged.

I think with all the car modding you do so regularly, this would be a good next mod for you.
They had the matte graphite on display at the store and it looked damn good. But since my car is the 'steel grey' color, I didn't think there would be enough contrast if I got the matte graphite.
Post some photos after you get them mounted!
Thanks!
The ride quality is actually really good. It feels slightly stiffer now with the H&R + 20" wheels setup -- but not bad at all -- still has that Mercedes-Benz comfort. The BMW X1 with sport package and my old 330ci sport package felt stiffer.
Yeah, nothing wrong with sporting wheels that have been out for 2 years if they still give the car that sporty look.
Nice. Post some photos once you get them mounted!
Yes, the car had been lowered for around 2 weeks when the photo in my original post was taken.
Really? Wow... I actually think the CV5 has a lot of style to it -- though I still am not sure what they would look like on a w212. I think the 'not played out' factor is part of the reason I was first considering the CV5 since I couldn't find any w212 photos with those wheels (and now I know why, cuz the offset for it doesn't yet exist).
The CV3s are actually not bad in weight at all. The wheel shop didn't have a scale I could use but going by my own 'lift with my hands and gauge' technique, they were pretty comparable in weight to this 3-piece forged wheel I was eyeing (Vellano).
