C63 AMG Steering Wheel Installed

Recently I picked up a 2010 E350 4MATIC Sport with P1 package, love the car so far. I had the opportunity to buy a C63 AMG steering wheel for next to nothing so I figured I would give it a chance. I wasn't sure that it would fit properly because of the bigger paddles, but there is plenty of clearance between them and the shifter stalk. Here's a picture, install took about 15 minutes from start to finish.

That looks great. I also have a 2010 with P1 and would love to do the conversion but I just cannot find one for a reasonable price.

Do you have part numbers of the steering wheel and the airbag?

You have a sharp mind my friend
Yeah, it lasted a while longer to figure out how to detach the airbag because W212s don't come with the nuts as W211s did to unbolt the airbag and my indie shop had never tackled a job this big in W212s as a result of this
I phoned my friend , handed my phone to my MB indie shop owner and he was advised how to take it off lol
At my next visit to the shop to get AMG logo installed was piece of cake because they knew how to get it done in no time

Nice upgrade. Is the width of the rim any thicker? It seems the same as the "AMG Wheel Package' steering whee rim? The standard paddles are too dainty and cheap feeling in their glossy plastic'ness, IMO this upgrade if attainable at a reasonable cost is worth it for the high quality aluminum feel and "click" alone. Though, messing around with Airbags freaks me out. I'd assume the sensors on these cars are prevalent and accurate enough to sniff out any issues at all if something was wrong.

Yes its measurably thicker than the one in 2012-on wheel package. Its about the thickness of 2010-11 wheel package, same as in your former 2011 (remember the one you did not like), but smaller diameter (all 2012-on 3-spoke steering wheels are smaller in diameter than 3-spoke 2010-11 wheels).

So the 2012+ wheels (with the silver borders) in fact ARE thinner than the 2010-2011 Wheel Package steering wheels? This would be enlightening as I recently drove a new CLS550 and thought the wheel felt a lot thinner than I remembered or have been acclimated to. I loved the rim of my 2011 E's "Wheel Package" AMG style steering wheel, I just felt the 3-spoke design looked a bit awkward and out-of-place in the E's very upright stately and boxy interior.

Unfortunately, yes.

2010-11 W212 E350 AMG wheel package were true AMG very thick steering wheels with flat bottom (that wheel was standard on E550).

2012-on AMG wheel package steering wheels in W212 are flat bottom, but are not AMG steering wheels, and otherwise are not measurably thicker than standard 3-spokes. They now differentiate what they put in AMG vs. non-AMG for W212 and C218(I believe you can still get AMG-like steering wheel in non AMG C218 when car is equipped with premium leather and has black headliner).

IMHO standard 4-spoke steering in W212 is miles less attractive next to a 3-spoke AMG one or even non-AMG.

So, where did you get that steering wheel? After you installed it, does the paddle shift work properly?

I purchased it from a friend, who decided not to use it in his car. Everything functions flawlessly, it was a simple plug and play installation.

do you know what the part number for this "AMG" emblem in the bottom of the steering wheel is? Is this original Mercedes part?
I have AMG steering wheel in my car since it came with AMG styling, but would love the AMG logo...

Damn, i thought it was only a badge on the bottom one could swap out. When "touching" the airbag badge, it seems like it can come off easily, and is a "clip on" type of badge... Am i totally wrong in assuming this?
