Luxury Trim w/Distronic
Can anyone clarify? I prefer the 'comfort suspension' and upright star on the hood over the sport version. (2014 E Class). I also want Distronic. Is it true that if you order the luxury version and distronic together, you get all the luxury quirks (smaller wheels, softer and higher suspension), but you have to take the sport grill and flat star on the hood?
Also curious about the ride difference. I miss the floaty boaty ride of an old Cadillac. Yes, I know I'm a minority!

Huh? I thought distronic was the setting to keep distance between your car and the car in front of you. Luxury includes the 17inch 5 spoke wheels, comfort suspension for elegance which is supposedly smooth, and you get the hood ornament. Sport provides the radiator grill with central star and I believe the suspension is slightly dropped but barely. Honestly, have yet to compare the ride because I always believed them to be the same with a difference not even worth comparing to.

What I thought I heard or read was the radar equipment hides behind the large MB star in the grill. So any Distronic equipped car needs to have that kind of grill.

selecting driver assistance package (contains distronic) does something crazy on the website configurator - it puts the star grille on the luxury model with the hood ornament. LOLOLOL
edit - they also removed the 5-spoke luxury steering wheel. i wouldn't trust the website.

This must be a mistake.

I was told the same thing when I bought my ML. If you check the configurators on the ML, GL and SL, the star changes from 'vented' to 'solid' when you add the Drivers Assistance Package. You have to look closely, because the picture change between the two is pretty minimal, but it does change to a 'solid' star when you add the Drivers Assistance Package

This doesn't make sense since the Distronic was available on E Class with regular grille for years. Also, it's on the S class isn't it? Talk to a dealer.
As for the suspension, the Luxury version sits higher than than the Sports version. While it has smaller wheels, the tires have larger sidewalls also. This means it is better at clearing parking lot bumpers, etc. Lot of people with Sports complain of dings due to hitting them whereas people with Luxury don't.
Based on advertising and website, MB is pushing the Star grille very hard and almost ignoring the availability of the traditional grille. So, the website is probably not best place to look.

The version in the picture that you provided with the normal grill looks quite a bit nicer. The "center star" + badge on top of the grill chrome, plus hood star was a bit much....

This picture of the new E is one of the ugliest pictures, if not the very ugliest one of any MB vehicle I have ever seen. And that licence plate is just hilarious....
I will NEVER spend money for a car with a front like this. Sorry, but MB really lost it with this car in my opinion.

I like both 2013 and 2014, but I have always been more interested in technology, interior styling, quietness and a comfortable ride. I don't see the front, back or sides when I drive my car so they aren't that important to me.

Salesman told me a couple of days ago that Dallas has a luxury with Distronic plus in stock, so I would say you can get it either way.
