My 2010 E350 Buyback Story Finally has a Happy Ending

All - I'm very happy to report that my 2010 E350 buyback story has finally come to resolution. My 2014 E350 has finally arrived and despite a horrendously botched delivery experience by the local dealer, I am very pleased with the increase in ride and comfort over my 2010 and how fast I've taken to the new technologies embedded into this year's model.

My 2014 E350 has all the goodies:
* 792 Palladium Silver with 211 black leather and H14 Burl wood trim.
* P01 Premium package
* 067 Illuminated Door Sills
* 129 Accessory Styling Package (Rear Deck/Trunk Spoilers)
* 287 Split-Folding Rear Seats
* 298 SPC Rear Side Airbags
* 319 Adaptive Lighting Package
* 389 KEYLESS-GO Package with Hands Free Access
* 413 Power Tilt / Sliding Panorama Sunroof
* 432 Active Multi-contour Driver Seat w. Massage
* 996 Full PARKTRONIC Parking Assist Package with 360 degree camera
* 997 Full Driver Assistance Package

My experiences so far with the technologies:
* The steering assistance with the Distronics seems to have a slight disagreement with what I think is the center of the lane.
* The Distronics assistance display I think is more intuitive that the side-scrolling earlier version
* Overall the handling is tighter and feels more connected to the road than before. It came standard with Conti DWS tires.
* I don't miss the Sprint Booster with the 2014. I have plenty of "go" off the line with the stock throttle response.
* The Eco stop-start function works well, although it only comes on in limited situations. As a long-time HOLD brake feature user, I've found that the Eco feature works better when just using the brake pedal normally than with the HOLD feature. After a restart from the HOLD feature, there is a very small but noticeable jerk upon acceleration.
* The active lighting package seems "whiter" than my original Bi-xenon lights. They seem to track to the road better and the high-beams seem to be on more than before.
* In addition to the red rear fog-light I had before, the new fog light button now swivels the front lights down and out a little bit and they light the road to the sides very well
* I love the hands-free option with the keyless go trunk option. A quick kick under the bumper and it opens. Another short, quick kick closes the trunk "hands-free" ... neat feature that I'm always using.
* The controls for the driver multi-contour are now to the bottom-right of the COMAND controller. Much easier to get to and use as the adjustments are shown on the screen.
* And I love the 360 degree camera. I have a small, tightly packed garage and I use this camera each day to get in and out with ease.
* And although I wasn't able to move my power folding mirrors from the 2010 to the 2014, I was able to move the EU fire extinguisher.

Still to come:
* Tinting and paint protection will be added next week. Going with an XPEL full frontal wrap of the hood, bumper, lights, and fenders. Then all of the trailing door edges and cups, and ending with the top of the rear bumper to avoid scratches when loading and unloading. For tinting, I decided on CA-legal front window UV/heat rejection, 50% rear side windows and 35% rear window.
* And maybe a set of staggered Mandrus Manheim rims ...

Not only did you post the images of that beauty ,but also you updated your signature
You guys will make me trade my car for these FL models lol
I am very pleased to see improvements on the new models though ,because MB invested too much money on the FL that has never been before like this and may be a not as high as before in the company history for E Class
Happy Driving

I'm happy it worked out for you. This just shows that MB will do the right thing when faced with a legitimate issue.

2012-on E350s are certainly feel noticeably faster than 2010-11 even with SB. I have SB in 2012 and it feels even better than stock. Did you ever found out why 2010-12 E350 SBs would not work with 2014 E350 versions?

No. I never got a response from the Sprint Booster USA contact I had and the overseas contact said they thought it would work ... and I just wasn't too inclined to plug it into my new car just to "see what happens" :-)

... and those are the standard (in US) R-38 stock sport version 18" wheels. I actually liked these better than the factory "AMG"-style wheels.

They don't always do the right thing, sometimes they ignore problems that need attention. All this shows is that the OP was lucky.

I don't want to derail this happy thread but MB is known for doing the right thingwhen faced with a legitimate problem and the customer has taken all the right steps. Like any other manufacturer, they will balk if they believe that the issue is either fixable or caused by the customer.

No, they won't just hand you the keys to a new car out the gate. It is a negotiating process intended to wear you down and cost MB the least amount of money but a customer with a legitimate complaint will ultimately walk away a satisfied customer - just like the OP.

Congrats.. I love the new front end of the E class. May I ask what you did with the SB? If you still have it laying around, I'd take it off ur hands if you want.

THanks!

thanks for the offer, but the SB has found another happy (and smile-producing) home with a 2010 E550 with "stale-bread".
