Fuse Box Question, installing dash cam
Hey guys,
I am wondering if we have a fuse box in the front of the box near the glove box like other cars? I know we have one in the trunk but I am wondering if we do for the front.
I am planning on hardwiring a dashcam to the car. I know this isn't common in the states but have anybody done so on the w212??
Thanks in advance!

Sorry that I didn't reply to this back in november.. didn't see the post. I was at the dealership the other day for service and asked him about the fuse box. Turns out we don't have a fusebox in the front of the car other than the engine compartment. I wasn't going to wire it through to the engine compartment because that seems a lot more work than going to the trunk.
So the cam that I got actually had a really long wire. I had it go under the roof lining and down behind the back seat and into the trunk. The biggest problem was actually getting the wire into the trunk as I didn't have fold down rear seats.... Luckily the seat is only attached by bolts (I think?) so I managed to attach the cable to a pencil and I stuck it down the crack between the seat and the rear panel thing. I pulled the pencil/cable down from the trunk and I took off the side panels of the trunks to hide it completely.
From there it was easy to attach to the fusebox. Whole process took me like 1.5 hours where one hour was having to figure out how on earth I was supposed to wire it to the trunk with these seats.

I wired mine to the ODB2 connector under the dash for the +12V constant which is a straight shot to the rear SAM to a 5A fuse (Fuse 73) from pin 16 (0.75mm Red/Green wire). For switched +12V I connected to the light switch pin 4 (0.75mm Red wire) which goes to the front SAM to a 7.5A fuse (Fuse 5). I used wire tap quick connects for the job.
I installed a Urive Albatross II unit with both front and rear cameras and routed the rear camera cabling under the roof liner.

Switched power for E350 2012
Hi
I want to install a radar detector on the front dash but cannot find access to the the 12 VDC switched power.
I can't even figure out how to remove the lower panel in passenger side foot well as I was planning to connect to the cigarette lighter power feed or to the glove box light switch - which I cannot find physically.
I also cannot find an electric schematic anywhere, but I do have the EPC & WIS data.
Any detail suggestions?
Thanks
Don

How did you get to the switched power? Where is it and which wire did you tap in. Also a simple question, how did you remove the upper foot well panel?
I want to install a Radar Detector, and wanted to go to the cigarette lighter power or to the glove box light switch (where is it?) but do not know how to access either.
Thanks
Don

I had my 9500ix installed and it connected to the driver side dash. The best buy audio shop did it for 26 bucks for me and took only 30 mins. If you are comfortable with it and don't want a hassel, just bring it to them. Otherwise I can't help you because I don't have much experience tapping wires in. All I know theres a 12 volt on the driver side dash. Its the part where you can only see when you open the door.
