Grumpy Old Men
I am disheartened by this forum. There is so much negativity here. Maybe it's because the majority of you have been here since mid summer '09 and are tired of your W212's and can do nothing but complain. I have tried to say a few nice things and its mostly been poorly received. If you are so unhappy then move on and be the trailblazer's that you once were and move up to the new S class. Yes, I am a newbie to MBWorld but not to automobiles or forums. My GF was surprised when I left BMW and bought a Mercedes. She said it was "an old man's car". Even though I went with the 550 for the power the V8 can deliver.
This forum makes me feel she was correct. If you misspell, or God forbid, use a word inappropriately, or a comma, or a run on sentence, you are ridiculed. Why is there so much pompous thrown about? It's saddening.
I'm sure to be bullied out of this forum within minutes...

Thanks for your concerns , I have seen worse brawls than this forum does.It may not be easy but don't keep reading such topics just leave them and don't post .When things go out of handy mods ,super mods , admins know what to do

I know what you mean, and I can personally say I have given grief for mis spelled words too.....every time I have been a di ck, I have tried to make amends with whomever it was.....but for the most part you're right I think.....
this was really fun a couple of years ago, we'd share mods and different idea's......and gang up on the ones we didn't....
think you're right in regards to the W212 getting stale for some folks.....I'm personally looking forward to the new S later this year or possibly in 2014.......
the E has been a GREAT car; and still is! It was my first nice car!!!

This forum I've found is simply a testament in sprit to the cars it's dedicated to. Forums of more vibrant cars are, well, more vibrant.
My GF liked my Benzes but always made fun of them being "old mans cars" as well. She almost seemed embarrassed to tell people what I drove. It was annoying.

This forum was a decent place for a while, then one of the respected members turned into a troll and the old guys keep feeding him therefore every thread starts with good intentions then turns to poop after a few posts.

Awww...maybe I am missing something, but, other than a couple (3?) folks being perhaps a bit "over zealous", I think things are pretty good. It says a lot that there is almost always a new post or thread every day. So many forums just go dead after the first year or two of a new model. MB, BMW, Audi, or any mass produced luxury car is going to have pluses and minuses. Isn't it great that products like these can strike such strong emotions and generate such impassioned responses. In a lot of forums, the emotions center solely on problems and malfunctions. I think that sometimes folks lose focus on the simple fact that, regardless of name plate, it is just a car.

I honestly think this forum is pretty consistent with the internet as a whole. All the personality types are there. There are elitists behind keyboards everywhere, don't feed the trolls.

This forum isn't that bad. You need to check out the cycling (bicycle) forum. Over there are bunch of retired guys that have nothing better to do then to be on the forum all day. Those guys are super grumpy. I actually enjoy reading some of the arguments that go on here. It's got some intelligent debate feel to it and I learn a few things. It's the cheap shots that gets annoying but like some say, just ignore it.
My girlfriend also told me my car is an old man's car. LOL. She told me I should of got the 528i since it's about the same price and it looks more sporty.

many thanx! it is a nice look, but let me tell you : this is my last black car! lol.......going to go polar op next time and get white haha....
it's such a pain keeping it clean!
currently have some tinted brush wheels on it now, and I am surprised how many looks and thumbs up I still get!
I have only seen one new E class in my town so far, and they do look nice.....very distinctive from the C class IMO

The forum unpleasant turn is mainly attributed to one or maybe two members. The old guys are not very internet savvy and they don’t know that the best way to handle a troll is to just ignore it/him.

This "grumpy old guy" generation is much better at looking things up on the internet than the young whippersnappers who'd rather ask a basic question on a forum than spend 2 seconds looking for the answer themselves.

It'd take a forum with a horrible backbone and weak/stale sentiment for "one or two" people to "ruin" it. I'm active in like a whopping 3 threads in the entire first page of this molasses moving forum and yet certain drama queens only participate in those very select threads to complain yet don't engage in actual ghost town technical threads about the car itself. That means that the car at hand either isn't interesting enough to live on as an intriguing topic or people simply love the drama under the guise of being annoyed by it. That's the basic theme of this forum and the cars it represents, IMO.
This place was never enthusiastic about its car, not when I was actively waxing poetic about it and not when I switched brands and posted in like 1% of the threads here which oddly somehow generate too much attention.

I thought this forum was for contributions from people who own or want to own E Class cars. Most of those people make useful contributions to the forum. Any "Old Men" contributions seem to come from trolls.

go over to the C-class forum if you want some more action haha I think it just comes with the crowd - statistically there are less young people that drive eclasses and it is young people that liven the forum up.

the forum seems to go hot/cold every few weeks ... normal for the genre. I've enjoyed watching the trolls and their victims ... but it's all just a different form of entertainment for them.
I personally get much more from this forum than I see the trolls making a rucus.
