does anyone else think the '14 E Class' side skirts are missing the chrome strip/accent in the spirit of the front chrome lip and rear diffuser chrome?

seems like it would add unity to the front and the back -- it's designed almost like there's an indent for the chrome strip, but they never got around to it

To justify your thoughts on the chrome , here's an AMG version of the W212 FL , I love chrome bumper cover skirts in AMG models alas I am afraid these won't fit Elegance model but I dislike this grill design in Avantgarde models a deal breaker for me
My dream set up in appearance is adding chrome bumper cover skirt as you can in the image with the Elegance grill

I was thinking of adding black vinyl on the skirts...the carbon pkg on the AMG models have carbon in that spot. I'd also black out the front chrome to match.

Ok, so I'm not crazy -- if you go to mbusa.com and "build" an E350 luxury or sport, or E550 -- there are chrome strips above the side skirts -- however, my vehicle and several others' E550s do not have this .. is this an option? Don't recall this in the build

...however, in the videos of the E550 on the mbusa.com site .. there is NO chrome strip on the sides... weird... would have loved this little accent. I wonder if I can get the stealership to add this

Peter you are right, I recall seeing a chrome strip on sides in one of the video reviews on 14 E class. Don't remember which one, I think it was a review by dealer. But I've never actually seen it on any cars on the lots. Weird.

You got that one spot on. I believe it'll fit the E class sport version fine.

Hi all, I was reading on the net about the side skirts on an E63 by one of the members, and I became interested in this topic as here in the UK I've been trying to obtain a set for my 2014 E250 Sport but my local MB dealer found some in Germany but when they arrived they were in black ! which was a surprise to all of us as I wanted chrome the then said there's no such item! Which was even more of a surprise, I know there is such an item because I've seen them several time on verious YouTube articles so after reading on these forums I'm wondering if there's anyone who could help me as to where in the USA I can get some !

Ask your dealer to look up the part from an E63 non-S without exterior carbon 773 or night package P60.

Note that to get it perfect, you need the entire rocker and insert from an E63.

In 2010, all models had "chrome" trim pieces on sides, but only luxury versions had chrome strips on front and rear bumpers.

My wife's 15 E400 4M has the chrome on the side skirt.

Incidentally, it's not chrome, but rather plasticized stainless steel or something like that. Actually most side and rear trim going back to 1930's in US was stainless steel. Only bumpers, grilles and hood ornaments were true chrome for most cars.

Your wife's car must not have the Sport package. My E250BT 4M with the AMG Sport Package has no chrome strips along the side skirts.

Wrong, it does have the AMG sport package. This E400 is the 3.0L TT not the hybrid.

Confusing ! According to the MY2015 MB Canada Dealer Guide, the "AMG Design Sport Package" for E400 does not include chrome sill inserts, only the E63 has these. Nor are there any chrome strips above the sills.

However, the E Class version without the AMG Sport Package has chrome strips above the sills. Maybe there has been a production change since the printing of the Dealer Guide, resulting in your wife's car having chrome sills ?

Mine is the MY2015 with the AMG Sports package. No chrome sill inserts as well.

This car was the first E400 delivered to my dealer and it definitely has the chrome strips. My CLS 400 has the same sills with the groove but without the chrome. By the way, the E400 is only available with the standard AMG Sport Package in Canada. Maybe the chrome was added at the factory by mistake. It certainly gives the car a nice finish and compliments the chrome on the front bumper cover.

no, I like it how it is..that would just be too much for an E350. Would look ok on an E63 since the whole car has a pazzzaaazz to it.

I've read people considered applying vinyl wrap material to this area or plasti dip would be cool ... You could pick the color that best suits the car
