My search for rims & tires
Looking for some advice from the experts
I'm a fairly new owner of a arctic white w212 Sports package and looking for a set or rims and tires. First I need to determine size. My Chrysler 300C I lowered and had 22s on them but the ride was harsh. Trying to avoid that with this setup. I'm currently on stock suspensions with 18s and rides so smooth
Reading various threads, 20s are they way to go but how much of the comfort will I sacrifice?
The black machine finish, does that have any pop to it like a chrome finish?
Thanks in advance

if ride quality is important you should go with 19s. theres about 2 posts a day pertaining to size, offset, and tire size so just do a check. If memory serves me right the following is the consensus for the best look.
245/35/19 x 8.5 et45
275/30/19 x 9.5 et45
Your car wouldn't happen to be a 4matic would it?
245/35/19 x 8.5 et45

2014 E350 w/ every option :)
Why should 4matic matter? I asked my parts / service dept and they said staggered is fine as long as you stay within/similar to E63 sizes/offsets. Afterall it's staggered!.

Yep, 20's on the E will be just about as harsh as 22's on your 300C. But 20's are better for aesthetics than 19's IMO. If you want the looks then go with 20's, if you want comfort then stay with 18's, or go with 19's for somewhere in the middle.
Also if you are going staggered then go staggered. 9" in the front and 10-11" wide wheels in the back.
Good luck
Correct just make sure that they are within .2 difference. (That is not written anywhere but Mercedes has never sold a car with a larger diameter difference on a 4matic).

I don't have a 4matic 350 and do want staggered. Based on the suggestion of 9" in the front 10.5 in the back, is this right
245/35/19 x 9 et45
275/30/19 x 10.5 et45
Thanks again

Wouldn't these rims fit? When I check the compatibility it saying otherwise.
Want them staggered though

Funny, I just spoke to my parts people where I bought my '14 350 4matic and he said definitely not to go staggered with 4matic. I said specifically "what about the e63 4matic?" He said they're engineered completely different.

If you are going with Vossens then call them directly and ask what wheels they have for your car. They are very helpful. You can buy the wheels anywhere but calling them will take the guessing game out of it because they know what size wheels and offsets will look good on your car.

14' CLS550
As long as the over all diameter is the same then it wont be a problem.

those rims with this car? don't want the full chrome. would like black on chrome look/finish. I think it would go well with the car
Also picked up black side markers (hockey sticks) and this grill

same type of finish is what I want on the rims.

I have 19" and what i did was ran it a bit narrower to show more of the rim/rear concave (not much). Had tons of people thinking it was 20's.
Front 19x8.5 (et35) 235/35/19
Rear 19x9.5 (et35) 265/30/19
I'm running Michelin's PS2 (bulkier tires)
I have a buddy running same spec but with Nexen tires @ 245/35/19 & 275/30/19 and his tires looks narrower then mine.
ps: just realized...the type of rims has a lot to do it with it too. Some 20's straight up looks 18" because of the lips, tires specs, not lowered...(I'm running CLS63 AMG specs)

I do like your idea.. i could only find the rims in 42/48 so going to run spacers to get them at 32/38 (i think lol). Wonder how that would look with your tire suggestion? i know i have seen your car within another thread, you happen to have a side angle shot?
EDIT: i found the pics.. they do appear larger.. How is the ride quality compared to stock?

The specs your buddy runs are exactly what I was going to get...
245/35/19
275/30/19

From my stock 18" to the 19", being lowered, It does ride a bit rougher, but still maintains the MB smooth ride. But I do have factory Air Suspension though, keep that in mind. With a push of a button, It will float and I think the airs rides a lot smoother then the stocks e350 suspensions even on my hard sport setting.
I think it would look silly if you had narrow tires and not lowered. Most people would get fatter tires to fill in the gap. I thought about going 225/35/19 and 255/30/19 but afraid it might destroy my rear aggressive stance because of the narrower tires. But..I can always push it out 5mm with spacers, to make it up.
