maintenance and extended warranty MB 350 BT
Hi, I just bought a 37K mile P2 Distroniics +, power seats, parktronic among others with CPO till 2014. The dealer offered to sell me an extended warranty plan and a prepaid maintenance plan for two years.
1. Can I wait till my warranty (remainder +CPO) expires till I apply for a plan? He says that if we don't buy now we have to pay a surcharge
2. How do I get MB to address a drift to the right?. I know its there but they seem to think is really bad
3. The car has 3 new tires and one that has run 18K miles. Thus on the back axle, I have a new tire and one that is slightly worn out. We measured and it does not look like a tire that has run 18K but that is what the carfax says.
Thanks

Re: drift to the right - cars will drift on a crowned road. If it pulls to the right on a perfectly flat surface, then it's most likely either an alignment problem or a tire problem.
Re: worn rear tire - this may make a difference on a 4Matic car. Even if it's not a 4Matic, I'd still put two new tires on the rear.
Prepaid maintenance is nice, but it only covers scheduled maintenance (12 months/10K miles) - if it costs less than $1K it may be a good deal otherwise I'd pass. If you plan to keep the car beyond the life of the current warranty, the extended warranty is good insurance against potential future problems. If you wait to buy the extended warranty you will pay more.

I know only what I've read here and that is that others have bought third party warranties. I believe COSTCO was one mentioned. Try a search on Extended Warranty - that should get you to the thread(s) on this topic.

2. The car is under warranty. Take it to MB to check alignment and get a print out of the results.
3. Measure all of the tires. Have the dealer measure them. Is it really 2mm difference. Ask for MB's specs in writing. Read this: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=18

If you purchase an MBUSA warranty (that's what I did), your dealer can charge a surcharge if they so desire. Mine didn't. However, it does have to be purchased before the standard 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty expires.
BTW, I purchased the maintenance plan when I got my car simply to protect against inflation, MB cost increases for parts and dealer increases in rates.

Thanks!
1. If you want a MB Extended Limited Warranty (The ONLY warranty 99% of owners buy), NO you can not wait "till my warranty (remainder +CPO) expires". You need to buy it before original new warranty expires. Call Dan Boone at Austin. He has great prices. Your dealer will not beat him.

On the blogs, I have seen Fidelity and a few others. There seems to be some concern about MB not covering the struts.
Really appreciate the details. Thanks
