car phone mount

Just picked up a note 3 and I was browsing around to see if I could find an acceptable phone Mount for my 350. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

I just bought the angled mount and it works great. They didn't list it for the 2014 but I took the plunge and it fits. I e-mailed back and told them that it worked on a 2014 so they updated the site to reflect it. I think the only one that is going to be 2014 specific is the one that goes on the vent.

For the note 3 you can try one of these: http://www.proclipusa.com/phone-hold...xy-note-3.cmsv

You need both pieces to make a mount. It's not cheap but it's worth it.

On a more serious note I run waze on it constantly and Torque. It's nice to have the display to the side like that.

Pro Clip make amazing brackets. I use one on my E550.

Worth the cash, because it is custom for both your phone (even if you have a case) and the car. It looks, and functions better

Please post pics of your mount installed I purchased one of the mounts that sat just under the Nav screen but the phone blocked the bottom half of the screen. Took out and haven't found a solution...used for waze as well.

Below pics of the Pro Clip mount I got and installed today. paid $95 including overnite shipment.

Fits well and does not look that bad. Have not driven it yet so I don't know how well it stays in place. Could be a little bit tighter on the center console side...

The phone in the pictures is not the one the holder is made to fit. This is just to show something in the holder while I took pictures with the one I have the holder setup for.

Went with the adjustable holder as I use a case over my Lumia 1020 and don't want to be taking it off every time I get in the car. Without the case I would definitely have chosen a holder with the charging connection built in it.

Go to Pro Clips net site and you can see the detailed installation instructions. Took me 2 minutes to install it.

I would get a Tetrax Fixway....I replaced all those bulky car phone holders and will not look back and yes it holds my Galaxy Note 3 with no problems.

Why use something that covers an air vent?

The Pro Clip I installed puts the phone in a perfect spot and is not in a way of anything.

I have some experience with those air vent mounts too and will never go back to them.

The Fixway does not cover the vent from what I could see, it magnetically attaches to a metal sheet that is glued to the vehicle dash or whatever you decide to glue to. Then the phone also attaches via a glued metal plate to the magnetic block.

So the mounting goes something like dash-glue-metal plate-magnetic gizmo-metal plate-glue-cellphone.

This will not work with Galaxy S4 as they have magnetic sensors to shut the phone down when their magnetic flip covers are on. It's the same reason why the Proclip IOAuto magnetic mount doesn't work with the Galaxy either.

The Proclip is vehicle specific, mounts in seconds and works great. I even bought a suction cup version of the base so I can use my phone mount in any car easily.

That is correct it is small and out of sight. You can place it wherever you want and remove the holder leaving a tiny metal square, very non-obtrusive and your phone appears to be floating when attached. I have gone though so many mounts including proclips and full leather Kuda's and this is the best I have ever used.

By the way don't buy the vent version unless you travel alot. When I rent a car I use the vent version and all is good.

So,

they have FIX, GEO-EGO, XWAY and XCASE models.

In all of these you need to attach something they call a "clip" in the back of your phone with a 3M tape. This "clip" seems to be a semi-ball surface steel plate.

FIX - model has a small about 3/4" diameter cylindrical piece with matching semi-ball surface with 4 magnets on it. This piece is called Tetrax and you need to glue this on your dash again with 3M tape. It says to glue it on flat smooth surface, which is not that easy to find on the dash of the E-class as any flat part is covered with the textured vinyl. hard to make the tape stick.

GEO-EGO is the model that clips that Tetrax magnet to the air vent.

XWAY has the Tetrax in the middle of a big X-shaped holder and is shown only to use it mounted on the vent obviously as it is made for bigger units like navigators. This one leaves quite big bulky holder on the dash when the navigator or the phone is removed. The XWAY would be the one to use with most phones as the phones are quite big now.

XCASE seems the same as XWAY but it shows another option for gluing it on the dash with a much bigger foot. You talk about bulky holder on the dash after the phone is removed here is one just like the XWAY is.

So, if you want to use this system it pretty much means that you need to use the XWAY mounted on the vent or XCASE glued with the bigger foot.

No thanks for me. I do not want to be gluing anything on the dash to start with and even if I did it would not work for me as here in south temperatures inside cars get so high the tape does not hold. And mounting something on the vent is just out of question for me.

I prefer mechanical mounting that positions the phone so it is not in front of anything and is also easy to remove and this Pro Clip seems to be just perfect.

Anyone found a good mount for their radar detector. I had one for my 300C that mounted to the rear view mirror but don't remember the manufacturer

I was wondering, since I don't have my car back yet to determine myself, are you able to reach your phone effortlessly? I am giving consideration to that same mount though debating if I need the charger.
