Already???!!!

Picked up a CPO 2010 E350 in October from a MB authorized dealership! Well long story short on the way home tonight the check engine light came on randomly!? Immediately I pulled over the car and turned it off. I turned it back on and the light was still on. I put the car in manual mode and drove it in first gear through the last one. Everything was fine and the shifts were smooth! I drove for another 15 minutes until I got home and everything was fine. But the light was still on!!! I don't drive erratically or at least anymore I don't lol.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance Guys!

This has happened before LOL but I filled my gas 2 days ago and this happened last night on the way home. I make sure I hear the clicks before closing it.

Nice write up GregTR! It's funny how they think a regular joe can't work on their car without up messing up. They probably were thinking that all the issues were due to you adding things. But the fact that you got your issue resolved is great. In the end of the day it's just not convenient to go back-and-forth, just because the tech couldn't figure it out. It would of been crazy if you never took the time to figure it out, they'd of replaced everything in the car!

Get an OBD II reader and scan it. Can't really guess what's wrong until the codes are read.

+1. This is the one I got and bought the Android app Torque for $5. I'm also modifying the car as well as the adapter so I can leave it plugged in without draining the battery as I'm running the Torque app on my phone constantly now. I'll have a write-up about that mod later.

Torque and Dashboard are great for Android.
OBD II Auto Doctor is great for Windows Phone. I am using it the Lumia 1520 (Bigger than Note 3)

Okay call me crazy but the check engine light went off? I have an appointment tomorrow and I don't want to look stupid. Should I cancel my appointment? I don't want to go there and they think I'm crazy or something! Can they still figure out why the light came on? This has never happened and I'm confused to what to do now?

???????????

If the check engine light went on, there should've been an error code in the computer I think. Like when my radar sensors for the lane tracking thing had an error pop up, I brought it into the dealership a few days later (even when I didn't get the error anymore). They pulled out the error codes and found what went wrong.

Don't think you'll go in looking stupid or crazy

+1.
All errors will be in the memory in the car even after the error clears and is not active any more. The codes must be cleared with the code scanner tool that they use in the dealer (or other) shop.

It depends where your taking your car, most MB dealers have 2013 c250 & c300s that can be rented from enterprise. Thy pay for a 24hr rental and just charge a $100 deposit and you have the option to add insurance for $30 more or use your own.

If your going to MB of Tyson's ask them for a C300!

I've always just gotten the loaner... There have been a few times that they had to get me a rental rather than a loaner, but they always covered the details.
The only exception was when my S430 had a sudden failure and they drove us to the rental agency but again, they covered the paperwork side of it.
