2014 E550 w/ 4Matic - staggered wheels?
Hi - now that spring is nigh, I'd like to order some wheels for my '14 E550. Since its 4Matic, I don't much see the point in a staggered set but all the AMG replicas I'm finding are staggered or a generic offset (i.e. ET35).
Is there anything that precludes running a staggered set on the 4MATIC cars?

There isn't, but as a precaution the forum recommendation is to make sure that the overall diameter is very close (withing .2 of each other)
If you want to be completely safe then you can make sure that the overall diameter is exactly the same (like me ). Check the tire manufacturer for the overall diameter.

To the OP, staggered wheels are perfectly fine on MB's 4matics as long as the staggered tires are used and fronts/rears are within ideally .1" (or .2" at the most, as was stated above) of each other. The only question is if there's a benefit (other than maybe looks if one is in different front/rear look thing) of using staggered on E550 4M.

lots of OEM rims are made in China; they subsidized manufacturing of light alloy wheels in the 1990's to the point that US suppliers closed shop or moved to China.
Besides...I bought two sets of AMG wheels for my '10 E550 Coupe (and paid $Texa$ for them). This car is a lease...hence my desire not to spend a lot of $$ this time around. I'm only getting them for summer duty...the stock 18's will be for winter use.

Keep in mind when shopping to buy a tire pattern that will allow you rotate them to the other side of the car. The camber is aggressive on our vehicles and it will wear the inside of the tire very quickly if it can't be rotated.

Staggered-Aesthetics Mostly-Economically Insane
I have staggered because it looks cool, other than that there is no performance gain, especially on a 4-MATIC where you will not use about 40 of the 285's when set up with 245-285, even 245-265's will be pleasing to the eye if that is the desired result-it was mine. Also seems the 265's are harder to find then 275 or 285 now days because of the staggered BM's. Rotation is impossible-so cost effect is out the window. Rim selection not so good as well-offset is impossible with out a kit. PGT, I am still waiting for the Chinese to build me some new OLD MB OEM's (PeterUbers- I am an old fart).
