At least on my 2011 4M, there's nothing magic about the rear diff. Very easy to do a fluid change as there are separate drain and fill plugs. I used MB spec gear lube, but I think some dealers use M1.
The front diff is fiddly, as it only has a drain plug - fluid needs to be replaced by pumping it up through that same drain plug unless you love pulling axle shafts.
In my case my car has very low miles, less than 60k. I did the rear diff fluid at about 50k mostly out of curiousity and it looked great, so probably not needed at that time. No big deal.
Based on that fluid condition I figure the front diff has a long way to go before fluid change.

MB of South Charlotte. I've asked her if it is covered under the PPM where I had my 80k miles. She said, she couldn't see in detail what service was done.

Other ones are:
1. My tires are FL (4), FR(3), RL(3), RR(4). which are funky wear and the technician recommends:

When called, my SA said, he recommended it along with the replacement of the tires. Also, I reminded them my wheels are aligned twice (once in December 2019 and once in January 2020). As they replaced one strut at a time in the front.
2. Tires - mount and balance - 1350$

3. Technician recommends Fuel Service around 350$
Meaning: The FS is basically where the technician goes in and puts in a fuel injection cleaner to the fuel system, so that it cleans carbon build up out of the system. Especially out from around the injectors and the intake valves.

Recommendations

Perform 4-Wheel Alignment $179.95
Mount and balance 4 new tires $1,257.00
Perform fuel injection service $342.41
Remove and Replace rear differential fluid $244.95
Wow! I saved $220.05 by doing my own rear diff fluid drain and fill. Two quarts of Red Line GL-5 gear oil cost me $24.36. And I think it took me about 20 minutes. That includes filling my diff fluid pump, and cleaning it out after I was done. Actual time under the car was less than 10 minutes. Of course I already had the car of stands to do other services, so I'm not counting the time to lift the car and set it back down.

I wonder how much shop time they are charging.

I used the factory fluid when doing the front. Had a bad axle seal so had to replace the seal and change the fluid.

I don't think it does anything different than using the injector cleaners mixed in the gas but if you don't have it done by the dealer service as mentioned in the service schedule the dealer can blame other issues to not having it done and then warranty would not cover the other fuel system issues or car not starting issues.

During the warranty period I took my car to the dealer service for everything that was mentioned in the service schedule jut to keep it clean between them and me.

I don't actually recall that injector service is part of required maintenance. Dealers sell it all the time though. Just normally considered an extra thing they sell to pad the bottom line.
