Keyless Go Issue - Car not seeing Key until I get into the car
Well, I think I have an issue with my Keyless Go system. The car is not recognizing the key until I get into the car. This appeared to be a fluke until it happened to me again and again. Anyone else know of an existing thread for W212s that discusses this issue? Or has anyone else had this issue and got it resolved by the dealer - I already had the battery replaced.

In my car sometimes the cluster turns red and it says key not recognized when I sit on the driver's seat and I have to move a little bit and then it sees the key.

Don't quite understand your problem. If the system does not recognize your key how do you get the doors unlocked to enter in the car? You use the buttons on the remote key?

Is it in a pocket with a cellphone? That hasn't happened with my keyless go but it has happened with my wife's Infiniti when I put my cellphone in the same pocket as my keys.

Mine acted weirdly too , all the buttons work but the car didn't recognize the key . What I did (after battery replacement involving two key fobs ) was taking the battery out and reinserting it .It's been working fine since then .

nope, it is just in there with my other keys. But this morning no problem, so I gotta remember to check and see how close my cell phone is to my pocket with the keys in it when this happens. I was wearing a jacket with my cell phone in my pocket when this happened one of the times recently.

I did not test that yet, but I will if the problem shows up again. It showed itself in the morning before I got a new battery. Now I remember, it also did show itself once after I got the new battery, but that may have been with the cell phone in my jacket scenario I described in an earlier post.

No trouble this morning but I did have my cell phone in my hand this morning. I will need to try it out with the cell phone in my jacket pocket and my car fob in my pants pocket and see if that recreates the failure scenario.

Does this sound familiar? Touch the car door, no response. Touch ANY of the key fob buttons and then touch the door and it works. Or, once inside with no issues, touch the start button, no response, touch any button, then the start button works.
All of this happening VERY infrequently. If it happens consistently, a new battery or battery re-install usually fixes it.
Having SAME issue with my 2014 E350, the same way it impacted my ex-2010 E350. On my 2010, they tried to fix this with everything from just a new battery, to replacing all of the cables, modules and antennas (there are a lot of parts to the system) to no avail.
Shop foreman says MB is looking into this due to static between the synthetic cloth of our slacks and the metal case of the key fob. This is seemingly across all lines and models.
Just bought a clear Silicone case through eBay to see if it works, will post the results once it arrives from Far East.
