Unsafe - 2014 AMG E63 S - about to send lemon law letter to MBUSA
Appreciate any insight/advice please! - Hey I love this car, BUT I have had a significant safety issue, really since purchased. On cold/cool mornings when I start it and put in Drive many times (not every time) it bucks wildly, i mean wildly like neck snapping wild. So bad I need to take my foot off the accelerator. Usually occurs for a few seconds then all is fine. Been in the shop 4 times and 15 days and counting for this (has been in for other issues as well). I assumed my dealer would resolve and was assured each time it was all set. Last time it was in repair for 10 biz days. When i got it home and in the garage, I gave the thing a hug (how crazy is that). Any way still the same issue. I contacted MBUSA today to be sure I have the right address to send my "demand for relief" and to let them know it was coming. Sounds like nothing was fed up the chain from the dealer, so it was news to them. Anyone ever have to go thru this? I don't want money back - just want the car I should have gotten when I bought it late in 2013. Very sad and unbelievable it has come to this point.

Peter, I dont see a sig, I can see Fob's, but not yours...
Hope the issue gets resolved, and hugging your car is not weird..if I had an E63 who knows what I'd do in the privacy of my own garage....seriously best of luck and keep us posted

Does it do it in every gear, does the tranny even shift? Sounds like a clutch problem in the trans. Also, what mode are you in, c s s+ m?? This sounds like what happens with a dual clutch car, which we don't have, when trying to drive slow(like in a 458 or Aventador).

Has happened in c and s no others that I recall. I too think it is a tranny issue as I would expect some type of misfire or other error code if a motor issue. The only other thing I have thought of is a throttle issue as it happens only when cold. Really concerned about safety too severe of an issue not to be. Do you think MB will do the right thing?
Really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

I'm stumped, very strange. I definitely think MB will get it fixed one way or another, but who knows how long that will take. Hopefully you get this posted in the AMG forum and someone over there with a lot of experience will chime in... Good luck Man.

Quick update
Heard from a case manager at MBUSA yesterday. The process is now starting, only 7 months after i bought it. Also heard from the service advisor at MB Westwood today, confirming they have experienced the bucking issue and are awaiting MBUSA to respond. Mailed my "final repair attempt" letter to MBUSA today. I don't want to **** anyone off at MBUSA, but I needed to demonstrate where I am at on this. Last thing I want is to get a bunch of attorneys involved in all of this. Hopefully a business person at MBUSA leads the process internally not a lawyer.
Two questions for me, how do I ever let my son, daughter, wife etc ever drive this - even if they say its fixed again. I fear for their safety? Once my father saw my 2014 E63 he went out and bought a 2014 E350, what do i tell him? Should he be concerned, should I be concerned for his safety? How can I, in good conscience, sell this car to a third party?

83:
You're going about this in a good way. We are here to support you, your family's safety is top top priority, Mbusa will recogniZe that
The best thing you have going for u is that the dealer can reproduce the issue! That means it's undeniable and documented .. You have this in the bag but it will take time
My build date for e550 #1 was July 2013 and #2 was march 2014
If u go lemon on this and get lawyers involved, it will get "sour" and it will drag out for one to two YEARS. I promise. Better to negotiate amicably with Mbusa. At a last resort you can give Steve cannon an email.

If MB is lurking in these post they better do the right thing for its customers (you). Don't ignore the problem like GM... GM has a serious company culture problem. Even though those GM cars were built years ago under different GM regimes; it's how today's GM responds to its customers that is important. It sends a message to its current customers and future potential customers. Mercedes: Don't go that path.

I too went through a buyback, keep the faith in the process. It WILL take time, but generally MBUSA will do the right thing.
Was this a lease or purchase? It makes a difference in the way MBUSA can/will respond.
Be firm in your communications with everyone MB, documenting every email, letter, write notes on phone calls, etc. Talk to the dealership management team to gain their assistance through the process. Don't **** them off, as mine helped initiate my buyback. Also, know your state's Lemon law details, just in case.
And if it is proved to be a safety issue, ask the dealership for a longterm loaner.

I few folks asked that i keep them updated. All I know is the dealer and MBUSA are still working on it. The most recent repair attempt (#4) is now 9 days (6 biz days) and running. Dealer service folks have reached out to me to let me know a number of folks are working on it. Met with my salesman and the GSM at the dealer today, they had no idea I had an issue like this and that it was going on for so many months. They did seem sincere in trying to help resolve this issue and understood I had lost faith in the car. Again thanks for all the input from a number of folks as a result of my post. One of the great benefits to be part of these forums is sharing learnings and experiences. I hope I have the opportunity to contribute back in the future

I don't understand all these "trying to repair" things...the transmission is bad, slap a new one in it and move along. Why would they need the car for so long and so many different times?

Dealers don't have answers for repairing trans. jerk issue. My dealer had my car for 1 month one time and replaced with new trans but it did not fix, so it is back at dealer again. 2nd go round, dealer has had it for 4 weeks with no answer. I like to get another car or refund on my car!
