AMG Door Pins

Hi Everyone. I am new here and thought I say Hi and share my first mod here. I bought the OEM AMG Door pins and they were easy to install. Here are a few pics to share. Pics aren't the greatest from my iPhone so bare with the pic quality.

Thank you for your warm welcome and yes the rear took a bit more effort and time. Overall, the entire project took me no more than 40mins for all 4. This is a great and easy mod to do and highly recommend it since it gets rid of the ugly plastic pin.

Very nice. Was it a simple twist off?

The front was an easy twist off. However, the rear required more strength and grip to get it to twist off. So I used a plier to get a better grip.

They look good.
But with my type A personality and my....let's just call it "too much attention to details", is there anyway to make the "AMG" straight with the door? (Thought about ordering me some)

I am planning on doing this myself, not a big fan of the plastic door pins.

Can you confirm that there's no way for the rear passengers to unlock the rear doors from the inside if it is locked?

It just depends how far you screw them down. But yes the idea is that they'd sit flush when locked.

They go for $75 each ($300 for 4) from Mercedes so it isn't cheap. If you can find anything lower would be a decent price.

Note: Ensure you order the front and back because they are different lengths.

Thanks man! You're right... $300? I kept seeing that and thought I was looking up something wrong. Lol.

They're $50 each from the Benz dealer, I got them on my R two years ago. Any higher and you're getting ripped off.

I picked these up off of ebay for 25.00. They look great and are much cheaper.

Much cheaper, indeed, plus they come in a nice presentation container as opposed to a cardboard box. haha!

Front and rear door lock pins are different lengths?

The non-factory options all look to be the same length. Please advise.

Factory rears are longer in length.

If they are not, most likely won't sit flush.

...afraid it'd look "unfinished" if I only did the fronts with fakies and left the rears "as is."

I'm not after the factory AMG ones for various reasons plus they're crazy expensive.

I'm not sure what's more insulting. Having the original cheap looking pins that look like they cost .25 cents each, or paying up to $300 for pins that look like what MB should of used in the first place?

I'm late to this discussion but there is one detail to remember about the door lock pins.

In my 2010 E550 and in the 2011 E350 model that I had before the doors cannot be unlocked other than electronically or by pulling the door lock pin up by hand. Thinking about an accident that disables the electronic unlocking function you cannot unlock the doors if the pins are flush with the door surface.

Some other cars (I know Audi, perhaps BMW also?) have doors to unlock when you pull the door opening handle twice. In my car this does not work.

For this reason I will not change the lock pins simply because I could not live with myself if I had someone burn in my car just because the silly doors could not be unlocked because the electronic system failed and no lock pins to pull.

Agreed.

I do have CLA45 and I ordered thru eBay these pins and they sit just right. you can still pull it when it's locked, and it won't hurt your arm when you rest on it. I think there are short and long ones on eBay I'd say get the long ones and screw it all the way down .. It will be safe and still look classy

This can be easily solved. I had mine screwed in to sit flush when locked. You can have it sit 1-2cm sticking out.
