Another Tranny issue? Car stuck in park.. anyone? ..not a battery issue

On my normal commute car kept turning off the auto and safety Assist features without any rain etc.

Then It jerked while driving and check engine light came on.

I got a red light so decided to turn off car and turn back on to "reset" everything. The car was now stuck in park in the middle of the road. Multiple restarts etc did not change anything.

called tow truck. they said minimum 90 minutes. With my car stranded in the center lane of a 55mph semi-highway! (at a traffic light intersection thankfully)

cop came and said have to move it to impound to get it off the road then Mercedes can get it from there.

so 30 min after initial incident, started her up and tried to get out of park again and went into gear right away. Drove 5 more miles to work.

got it towed to dealer and same issue happens when dropped off at dealership. "We can't get the car to move"

just had 40k where they tested the batteries, did tranny flush and put 2k miles in 2 weeks after service with no issues, so I doubt its the aux battery.

Took tow truck over 200 minutes to get to the car. And when I call the roadside they have the spin of "the best or nothing" for our customers playing on the hold music.

any ideas?

have any of these symptoms occurred before, either separately or together?

Without knowing how the auto and safety assist features are related to the tranny issue, my first thought would be a tranny issue since you just had that serviced. Not sure if a tranny can overheat, but perhaps it cooled after the 30 minutes you waited enough so it could shift again.

Are you still under warranty?

None of these have ever happened individually or together. Unlimited miles warranty so not worried.

I had problems like this about a year ago. The dealer said something was draining the battery and replaced the battery, reprogrammed and changed the light switch. Apparently it was leaving the lights on too long and with me taking multiple short trips in the evening, it progressively drained it. The first time it died, i did the same thing, waited for mb to come jump it. Then a week later it died again and i took it to the dealer immediately. There haven't been any issues since.

The wierd thing is I just did a 250 mile trip from NYC and my commute is 60 miles. So no short trips to drain battery.

you were able to restart the car a few times but the transmission would not move out of park, right? Not sure why the battery would keep the transmission from shifting when car is running.

I think they are referring to the aux battery which controls shift lever in the tranny.

I thought they replaced that with the flux capacitor in the W212. Oh well.

Did you any news on the car today?

You mentioned the auto and safety Assist features (like attention assist?) kept turing off. Do you mean the icons for those would come and go on there own as if the feature was being disabled then enabled, or are there other warning lights like you get when ecs is off?

They said the "Trans Connector" got unplugged. It is under the car.

I think this highway cruiser got pissed at me for taking her into the rough streets of Manhattan.

Read your manual...it's the leasing mileage control function on the Comand system...when set, you can't go over your monthly allowance. You won't have any problems at all when you reach your next leasing month start date.
