Arrow Inexpensive Brake Fluid flush

There are some maintenance items better served by the MB dealer network.

However, there are some simple items that can be done safely just about anywhere.

I was due for a brake fluid exchange, and noticed that Sears Automotive offers the service using DOT 3/4/5 for $39.99 (if you check out their web page, I think its a national price). They used the vacuum system that sucks the clean fluid to the brake caliper.

I was out in less than an hour, and am now looking to bring my wife's Lincoln in for the same service. Great price.

Thank you, this is also valid in my town (Rome, GA) and the dealer wants $285.00. I am due. I will be taking advantage of this.

Good stuff. I have the Motive Bleeder since 2000.
Replaced the vinyl hose last year and it's good as new.

Worked on Benz/BMW

Yup, that's what I used for my E36/E46/E60. I believe it can be used for W212 as well

The bleeder is $50, the fluid at the dealer is what, $30 per quart?
So 110 bucks for the first two flushes(4 years), plus it's kinda messy still, and you need time, and confidence in yourself, etc.

Sears will be 80 for the two flushes, nice deal it seems to me.
(Full disclosure: I own the power bleeder and had flushed my own brakes)

Thanks for the info, i've paid 1 time for it at the dealer but not sure how much it was, $2xx I think. Switched to Pre-paid on one car, still deciding what to do on the other as I approach 20k...

I see it your way, but I have seen shops/dealer pull a quick one by siphoning the visible dirty brake fluid reservoir and refilled with "clean" fluid. DIY is not all about money savings but the comfort of knowing the job is done properly.

Agree
I guess that's why nobody trusts mechanics anymore... If they charge sky-high rates, then they at least need to make sure they take care of my car, and are not cutting corners.
