Looking to pull the trigger on buying a diesel would like feed back from diesel owns

I am looking at a 2011 e350 Bluetec luxury p1 CPO with 54,997 miles have a good carfax all work has been done at my local dealer here in Sarasota,FL as the car was locally owned.

Asking price is $28,741.
Appearance Protection 599.
Door edge cup guards 299.
Nitrogen Tire Protection 229.
Theft Protection 299.
Vehicle Selling price 30,167.00

Sales tax 1,908.33
Tag 573.75
Tire/Battery 8.50
Dealer Service 699.95
total 33357.53

And of course i will try in get the price down. Or walk.

includes 2 years free maintenance and the first 2 months loan payment made up to 1000.00 total

And if i want to extend the warranty for 2 more years past the CPO it is a added 2495.00 which would cover her till Feb 2018

Drove it today on the interstate felt it had a little more road noise then when i test drove the 2012 e350 Bluetec. Took her past the posted speed limited and she was rock solid. The rear seat has a tear and there is some dirt marks on the head liner, found some staining on the rear carpet where the mats would cover and a small burn mark on the front drivers side carpet that would be hidden under the floor mat car does not smell like someone has smoked in it but checked the lighter and someone has used it to smoke something. Under the hood looks brand new very nice and the outside of the car looks brand new no dents or dings. The problem is i can not smell any kind of cigarettes.

They told me they are going to fix the seat and detail the car so this should not be a problem. Will see when done.

So here is my problem never own a MB. And the reason i am looking is because i now drive about 50,000 miles a year and feel a diesel is the way to go. Also ready for a nicer car. As my 2007 Hyundai azera is getting old. And of course will hand over to my Wife. Because her Chevy truck gets about 12 MPG

Looking for MB owns that drive high miles and there thoughts about gas mileage, ride, seats, safety, tires, cost of owner ship,

We've got a 2014 E250 diesel. Fuel economy is unmatched by anything in its class. We can get <5L/100 km on the highway. Have got 7.1L/100km since owning it with mixed driving.
Ours is a post facelift model with a different drivetrain, so not sure if comments around road noise, etc. is applicable, but ours is quiet as you could expect at highway speeds.
Tell the dealer to take all those extras and stick them. $300 for door guards? I assume you'll be insuring the car, so theft protection is unnecessary. Nitrogen inflation is completely useless, Earth's atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, and works just fine in tires.

MBZ diesel is solid car. I own 2014 e250 diesel, too and I love it. Everything looney100 said is with mine also.

I agree with looney100's comments !

I would suggest you try to find a lower mileage 2012 or 2013, if your budget can stretch. 59,000 miles is equivalent 89,000 km. The example you are looking at does not sound like it has been especially well cared for. If it has been a smoker's car, that would diminish the value of this car by several thousands of dollars !!! Be very careful that the dealer hasn't tried to disguise the awful odour ! The better dealers will simply pass on a smoker's car.

Try doing a search for CPO @ www.mbusa ; you can refine your search criteria for price, distance from your home, etc.

Having owned a 2013 E350BT, I can assure you that it is a great highway car; you can cruise for over 600 miles or 1000 km on one tank, in superior comfort.
This car is quiet on the highway, tracks like a locomotive and offers powerful passing performance when required.

My bluetec gives 20-25 city flooring it all around, up to 28 driving nice in the city. 30-42 (highest sofar) highway mileage. 50k miles for 11 is too high... I drive 50-75 miles a day minimum and I got mine at 26k. My dad said 11' is the better year for these 350s, but my 2012 has been quite satisfying. Use mypreownedmercedes.com for a nice diesel under 40k miles cpo with 2 years left on its factory warranty still. One owner.

Great USABLE power band, you can wring out every gear easily. Lot of fun to drive. Perfect combination of power, comfort, economy and luxury. This E class is definitely ownershuip material and with the OM642 or 651 (i prefer the 3 liter, 350 versoin) you will be able to keep it until 200k miles easily. No rebuilds. Have pics on this forum of people from 100-400k on mbz diesels. Even as new as 05 with 260k miles.

Keep looking. Get the right miles and color inside/outside. I prefer the 350 but if pure mpg and lean smoothe power is your goal, go with the 250. Something about the 3 liters engine has a charm to me.. Ill give up the few mpgs hwy and avg overall, and incur slight turbo build time. I prefer the single VNT turbo. Plus the visual styling on the 11-13s are my preference

2014 ML350 Bluetec with 39K........................average 24.5 in the city and about the same when on the hwy doing normal interstate driving, which is 75-80 mph. Forcing myself to do a solid 70mph for 400 miles on I-35/I37, with no tail wind/no headwind I can get 28-29.

Driving in Yellowstone park at 45mph......the vehicle makes diesel instead of burning it or at least seems that way.

This ML is the quietest Mercedes made imho. I own a CL550 (S chassis) and have driven CLS550's (E chassis) , E350 coupes (C chassis). Quiet is Good for long interstate drives if you want to get to your destination feeling fresh.

And I now see I"m on the wrong forum .........but the ML is a diesel. How quiet a E250 is, is a unknown to me. I suppose no quieter than another E-Class.

These items are a waste of money. Those ugly door insets are a $100 from the dealer and much cheaper online.

The dealer has added on a bunch of stuff to increase their margins on the car. Since you are doing 50K miles/year you are probably only be driving the car for 4 or 5 years max. Check for any mileage limitations on the warranties. Make sure that you are getting the unlimited mileage warranties. I would only consider it if you really like the car and the dealer throws in the 2 year unlimited warranty FOC on top of the CPO warranty.

I may have a deal for you!

I just got a Tesla in dec 2014, so I am in going to be selling my 2011 E350 Bluetec with 64k miles. It is black on black. Has P2, Night view assist, park assist pkg, 115v plug, keyless go, sport package, Drivers assist package with distronic plus which has active cruise with stop and go. 64k msrp. It is a mb CPO unlimited miles warranty car that will transfer and I also got prepaid Maintenance for the 60k, 70k, and 80k (which is the big one with tranny flush). I had no plans to sell it but when Tesla came out with the Autopilot features like distronic plus I decided to switch.

I Just did the 60k service and the 70 and 80 are covered for free with the maintenance pack I got. The 80 k service is the big $1200 one with the tranny flush.

The warranty is Unlimited miles till Oct 30 2017 since I already bought the Extended 2 year plan you are being offered.

It is an awesome car for high miles drivers. I have put 30k miles in 11 months and no issues. Even if you do not buy mine, find one with Distronic plus. 50k miles a year is a lot and Active cruise will make life 110% better for you.

It is going for a complete detail tomorrow, then I can send you pics. No Smoking, No rips tears, No Bs fees etc. Excellent condition.

Straight up I will sell for 28500 plus tax tag. In Sarasota, that is $1760 on that amount. Tag is 399 for a new tag and 199 to transfer a tag. Shipping from Va to Florida would be about 600, or you can fly up and drive it back.

So that is a range of $31,259 with a new tag shipped or $30,459 for a transfer tag and you pick it up.

Compared to the one your looking at is 33357+(2644 warranty with tax) - 1000 rebate in financing = $35000 before any discount, and with the same service plan and a warranty for 3 extra months. However that one has way less options. It is probably a 57k msrp car vs this 64k car. You can ask anyone on the forum the value of these 2 options.... P2 and Distronic plus are very rare!

PM me and I will also PM you my contact info.

Good luck, Smart choice in the E350BT.

If you really are curious you can look at my post history, I sold my last 2010 E350w4 in a few hours to a exporter within 3 hrs of listing it on craigslist. The specs were below...

Clean car priced right, just like this 2011 E350BT I will be listing soon.

2010 E350 Arctic White 4Matic, P2, Sport, Keyless Go, Bi-Xenon, Distronic Plus, Nightview, Multi-countour seats, Park Guidance, Almond/Black Full Leather JUST SOLD

This is good advice.

I took a quick look and you have a pretty significant inventory problem (as far as I can tell from mbusa's cpo and cars.com searches). The other options (and there are not too many) are all overpriced IMO, and I went all the way up to Atlanta and down to Miami. The car you found is a bit up in miles but priced ok. Since you drive so many miles MB's unlimited mile CPO warranty was basically designed for you. There is nothing that will get you warranty coverage with your expected 200k total miles in the next 3 years.

Sure the extras are ridiculous, but you can use this to your advantage by saying something like: I really don't want or need any of the extras that you have added on to this car, by way of example it comes with MBrace so what value is theft protection going to give me etc. However, I will agree to your price with the additions if you include the extended 2 years unlimited miles warranty along with it. They will try very hard to not put this on as a condition of you buying the car, but I recommend that you stick to your guns and say this is a reasonable offer and that's it. Walk if they don't bite, they will call you back within a day. If they don't you can always call them if you really want it.

You can get the addtl 2 yrs for about $2k if you shop around but since the car is basically out of warranty you would need to do it right away and I suspect that this dealer is not going to be competitive in the price for it unless it is a part of the deal for the car. $33.3k OTD is a reasonable price for this car with the 2 addl yrs extended warranty, but since the strange market in your area that price actually looks really good.

Another thing you can do is call MB of south Orlando and find out where they are on their 2011 e350 BT. It is the next best priced CPO that I found at $33k list (but with fewer miles). They have had it since November so they may be softening on the price. Don't be afraid to tell them that you are close to a deal on the one you have at $29k or whatever you decide to tell them.

Most likely location for high mileage E350BT would be northern Europe, where both E350BT and E250BT are widely used as taxis. These cars are routinely in service for over 400,000 km (240,000 miles) before they are resold. E Class diesels are the most popular taxi in northern Europe.

You might also find some high mileage owners @ www.benzworld.org/forums/w212-e-class.

2014-15 E250

I was also looking for a used MB diesel. But I really liked the new E250. I had decided to wait a year or two, as I wanted to get the price into the $30's, but my dealer convinced me to "see what they could do". I ended up with a new 2014 (bought in Oct, so it was a "leftover") which I got for about $50K (MSRP $62). More than I wanted to spend, but I love the car. High 40's mpg on the highway is the norm, and I typically average about 35 mpg with mixed driving. So, if your budget can handle it ....

2011 E350 Bluetec, 1996 S320 & 2006 E320 CDI Sold to my son & 2017 GMC 2500 Diesel Pick up
I just purchased a 2011 E350 Bluetec that will replace my 2006 CDI that I love. With only a couple weeks with the '11 all I can say is it's quieter than the '06. It doesn't push you back in your seat on hard acceleration but if you watch the speedo it is still as quick. Not sure if it’s the suspension or what. I have 3 diesels so you could say I’m a big fan. This is my 4th MB and I’m ever impressed with the quality and how little repairs have been needed. I’m a DIY guy find them easy to work on. Since I was just looking I can say there are cars out there with way lower mileage – keep looking don’t settle.
I would think Florida would be a lot like Arizona with a lot of older people who don’t put a lot of miles on their cars and trade them every few years. Hold out for a jem

Don't buy that car. No MB can be a CPO with tears, dirt or anything else. AND... if that dealer is who I think it is... walk. I bought a CPO from them a few years back and had it shipped to CA. Junk. A reliable dealer had a repair list for over $10,000 to bring her up to a CPO.
Look around for one with P2. You won't regret it. Mine has 46,000 miles and averages 35 mpg. All city is 21-23 mpg. All hwy is an easy 37+ mpg.
No idea what the mpg is when driving speed limit or less.

Don't know if this would be your first diesel but if it is I'd just make this general comment....diesels are meant for the Interstate. All three of my diesels, including my Bluetec,were/are at their best at a steady 70/75 mph.In my no-so-humble opinion they're not meant for around town trips to the supermarket or a 6 mile stop-and-go commute to the office.

I have a 2010 E350 with 24,000 miles on it in perfect condition and I need to sell it quick as I'm being transferred. The car is loaded, P1, P2, heated steering wheel, real spare tire and up to date nav disk as well as other options. First $29,000 takes her. Thinking about buying an E250 diesel, my dealer has a brand new 2014 for $48,500. Is the ride that much better than my E350?

The answer partly depends on whether you would choose the 4Matic E250BT.

Both RWD and 4Matic E250BT are far more fuel efficient than the E350. Having owned both the E350BT and now an E250BT4M, I can offer you a few observations.

The E250BT4M handles better, the steering is lighter and more direct, it rides better (even equipped with Sport package), its transmission shifts faster and smoother and perhaps most importantly, it has negligible turbo lag compared to the E350BT. As a result, in city driving situations, the E250BT feels faster than the E350BT.

For highway driving, the E250BT4M will easily cruise for over 1200 km (or about 800 miles) on one tank. These cars are designed for long distance highway cruising, with their vast range, very comfortable seats and superb ride.

There are also some features on the MY 2015 E250BT that were not available on the 2010 E350 or 2011-2013 E350BT, such as 360 camera, ability to record CDs to memory, improved navigation supplied by Garmin and upgraded safety electronics (e.g.. Collision Prevention Plus).

I have not driven the RWD version of the E250BT, but I have read that it performs slightly better than the 4Matic version, being about 150 lbs. lighter. However, if you live in an area that gets lots of rain and/or snow, the 4Matic would be a huge bonus.
