Louder Turbo Spool?

Hey Guys, anyone have any ideas on mods that would help achieve a louder turbo spool sound? Im a big fan of the sound and was wondering if maybe different air filters would help?

From what? your E55 doesnt have a Turbo, it has a Supercharger..

You can try different diverter valves or wastgates

OP also has an E550 coupe with the M278 V8-biturbo. Sounds like your coupe may have been tuned by the previous owner and have some renntech parts. I think it's wise to figure out what has been done to it, especially exhaust wise.

Thanks rediesel..to be quite honest, the dealer gave me a bunch of fluff about renntech wheels and exhaust which I truly doubt the car has. But that's mainly due to my research on the Renntech website in which they don't appear to offer a Renntech exhaust for the E550. The exhaust definitely does not sound stock it has a very nice growl to it IMO. Sounds almost like a tame version of the C63 exhaust. I wouldn't be surprised if all my car had was a resonator delete

There aren't a lot of options out there for the M278 engine. Weistec has perfomance air filters, http://weistec.com/all/e/e-550/2012-...m157-m278.html but I'm not sure how much that would add. They also have a full exhust kit but it's nearly $6k. What kind of brakes are on your car?

Where are you located? We just finished our V12 BOVs and would love to have an offering for the 550s. If you're in Chicago and feel like being a test car, we'd give them to you.

I heard these aftermarket air filters actually let more particulate through the grates, and dont forget mercedes stress tested these parts, renntech only sound tested them.
