How to activate this light?

Are these Parking Lights? If so, why don't they light up when I turn the light switch on to P?

Anybody knows how to turn this light on??

One of three things that come to mind...

1. Backup lights
2. Turn Signal
3. Rear fog light

Agree. Have you consulted your manual?

Typically not but I cannot say with certainty as MB changes stuff and there are two.
The rear fog is usually a single left light within the left rear housing that burns brighter red than the others. The fog is activated typically using the light switch.
Again, speculation by most replies when the manual will explain it.

Guys, this has been discussed earlier in several threads. As previously suggested these are the turn signal lights outside of North America (where Amber lights are mandatory for turn signals but in US Amber or red would work, so they just use the existing brake lights).
It is not possible to activate these in US spec cars as there are no LED / hardware inside. Even if you buy a Euro spec tail lamp it would not work as some programming of SAM needs to be changed. The changes are done by MBUSA (and the other German carmakers as well) in an apparent effort to save on costs (it's beyond me why would they skimp on LEDs worth $10 on such luxury cars).

I have also noticed that when this discussion crops up with those retrofitters who provide service with regards to tail lamp upgrades, they usually stop responding.
Leads me to believe that only someone with detailed knowledge about the coding and operation of both euro and American cars would be able to switch those tail lamps.

Wow, thanks for the answer. So they are useless pieces of plastic in North America. What a disappointment

He bud, why not take 5 minutes and go into MB Nanaimo and ask John the SM, a sales guy or a tech about your question.
I don't know the answer but in over 30 yr of MB ownership I have never seen MB do something as wantonly stupid as you are suggesting. My guess is they are back up lights but I can't be sure because I don't have access to your manual which would tell you.
Anything here is speculation including my guess.

Reversing lamps are only part of that white line on the inner border (only two LEDs on either side on the trunk part of it). I have the same car and it bugged me to death. I have given up hope for an easy fix but am open to suggestions. Thank you.
