I honestly would consider leasing a '14 left over, so I can enjoy that monster of an engine. I have it now in my CLS and can't see going back! Even the naturally aspirated 550 engine in my '10 E550 was great. Even before that, I had a '08 CLK 550, so I am a 550 man to the bone / 8 years running! It's one of my favorite engines. To answer another post, I didn't try the 400 yet and don't mean to insult any 400 or 350 owner. It's just if you compare the specs, it's night and day power wise.
Another post must be the reason, simply didn't sell. I guess people weren't willing to pay the $ upcharge for the performance and added fuel costs, etc. that go along w/ the territory.
Drive the E400 before you write it off as inadequate. It will perform practically as well as your NA V8 but not as well as the TT V8.

The E550 is a low volume seller in the USA. If they get rid of it, most buyers will seek the E400, E63, E550 coupe or CLS550.
If you don't believe me then see your first post in this thread.
The E550 sedan is still sold in other markets including Canada where the E550/E350 sales ratio is better than it is in the USA.

HAHA! Totally agree. Im not 100% on this but it may have been dropped because of EPA regulation and the standards the manufactures have to meet in there complete line up. I dont think its to push the E63. Sales could definitely be an impact on the decision, too. Real soon Mercedes will be offering an AMG line on all/most of there vehicles. (We just had a meeting about this today actually) So, there will be the AMG (one man, one engine) at the top and then a AMG line under that. So with the AMG line you will get a extensively tuned motor along with the suspension and what ever else. So, for example, that 3.0l bi-turbo get tuned and may come very close to, if not exceed, the predecessors. We will see...
