Replacing aluminum side console trim.
Has anybody replaced or have any insight on what it will take to replace the aluminum trim side pieces on the center console. Car is a 2014, The finish on mine has begun to wear and there are several scratches. It is one of those things that bugs me every single time I get in the car. Any advice will be appreciated. I have included pics of the piece I am referring to. Sorry about the low quality iPhone pics.

No idea of part #, but that piece is black wood in my car. I imagine that aluminum is coated so a mild auto polish might take the scratches out.

Can I ask what you had placed on those to scratch it all up like that? That is terrible.

That is the funny thing, I am extremely careful never to put anything on the console as I am scared to scratch the black ash wood. My guess is must have happened at the car wash with some abrasive on a dirty rag or something, no other possible way it could have happened.

I have found the part # and it is not an expensive piece at all. Around $30 I believe. Just now trying to figure out if and how they pop off or if the console must be taken apart first.

It must be very soft trim and poorly finished to scratch like that from minimal abuse. Bummer. This is not a good spec for a MB product. I have wood as well in that area which is holding up just fine. I hope you get it back to normal without too much angst.

The easier it is to scratch the easier it is to polish it out (same principle applies to exterior paint - MB is really hard to scratch, but hard to correct when it does; whereas my Ram truck is softer and scratches more easily, but is also easier to buff out).
It looks like all of the scrates go in one direction so if I refinished it I would be tempted to put a brushed finish in the same direction as the scratches to minimize future occurances.
All that said I would try to find the wood part # and be done with it. My 2012 VIN WDDHF9BB4CA522204 has the black wood if you need to search.
