I bought this old school high mileage badge off of your "favorite online auction site" from Belgium. The badge is supposedly circa 1930 and it's condition would lead me to believe that this is indeed the case. Back then I guess it was a big deal for a car to make it that many miles in one piece. I like the look of vintage Mercedes with different badges on the grill and this seems to be a piece of automotive history if it is indeed genuine. The badge is made by Joseph Preissler, Pforzheim.
That's great. Does anyone think that the badge would look better in any other place than currently installed. I hope that badge is made of metal and not plastic as the badges in wheels of current MBs.

It's solid brass with fired enamel on top. It has a nice heft.
You can get an updated version of the high mileage badges from Mercedes if you have at least 250,000km on your vehicle. It is my understanding that the 100,000km badges are no longer offered by Mercedes, but were in the past.
It has threaded posts with nuts that screw on. I used picture frame wire and a zip-tie to secure it to the grill. It's pretty snug and it would be very difficult to steal unless you were somehow able to rip off part of the grill itself. Needless to say, I'm not too worried about it falling off while on the road.
When I was a member of MBCA I toyed with idea of getting their badge and placing it on the black lower "grille" area. But, very difficult to access back of the "grille" without removing something. The badge is very similar to the MB badge and the one you bought.
Also considered getting a simarly sized US Army one to go on the other side just to balance them out.
Is the MBCA membership worth the price in your opinion?
I think it is about $50 per year now. Probably worth it to see if you like it. The magazine is very slick and has lots of articles on how to take care of MB's, especially older ones. There are regional groups that sponsor meetings, road trips, events, etc.
I was in for about three years or so. Not really close enough to the regional groups to attend anything.
After one year of membership, you can get a discount on a new MB at particpating dealers - or used to could.
They have a website.
