2014 E-350 COMAND Questions

Hello All,

I am a new owner of a 2014 E-350 with Sport Package and AMG wheels

I have been searching the forums a few days but any COMAND upgrade info I found seems like it is for the older w212 systems and now I am trying to get some info about my COMAND system.

I realized that the car did not come with navigation (code 528 COMAND Plus without navigation.)

Called and went to local MB dealer and they told me there is no way I can add navigation.

Not sure if I have AUDIO 20 NTG4.5 or not but I wanted to know if I can install the becker / garmin nav or switch out the COMAND unit for one with navi.

Best info I can provide:
NAVI button only goes to compass.

Going into the engineering menu I seen I have GPS info (hoping that means an antenna is installed), any HDD information is blank (guessing I do not have a hard drive which makes me think its AUDIO 20)

I have Media Interface connection to iPhone 6 Plus through a 30 pin to lightning adapter.

Bluetooth can also play music through iPhone.

Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks!

first, welcome and congrats on the car.

second, you are not missing anything as the MB nav is dissapointing IMHO. You would be better off with a standalone GPS if you use nav a lot.

third, if a conversion is even possible, I would expect it to be very expensive. You could review parts diagrams to get a sense of the components that are shared or exclusive to comand with nav.

+1 to the above post. I wouldn't bother trying to upgrade to a navigation unit. It'll simply cost you too much money and hassle or lost warranty, not because it's not good. I love the navigation in my car and wouldn't have bought one without it. I presume your car doesn't have premium package as well. Hope you got a hefty discount for this car as it is very rare to find an E class without one.
Your car looks stunning by the way, and congratulations on your new MB.

I agree with thefisch the navigation system on my E350 sucks. The $20 garmin I have is better. Mercedes Benz went to a cheap head unit on the 2014 models they saved a few pennies and shafted the owners.

Sorry for the late response. I appreciate the info. I am leaving the COMAND the way it is for now. Only thing I am thinking about is changing is the wheels and putting on illuminated star. Thanks everyone.

When you get the illuminated star you do not need to buy the power source Just hook up I believe to fuse 23 under the hood. This way it goes on as long as you have the car running. I actually installed a cut off switch under the dash in case I did not want it to go on.
