2016 Crystal Grey Nappa Interior Photos

It's been a couple of months and I thought I would post a few photos of our new 2016, only because the interior is seldom seen. The car was ordered in February and the dealer slipped the build into an order they had already placed, to get the car built before the Surround View Camera was dropped in April.

We didn't need a new one yet, but I was concerned that we wouldn't like the new 2017 model, so we pulled the trigger now. I'm sure glad we did!

Here is how she was ordered:

2016 E350 Luxury Sedan

775 Iridium Silver
02R 17” 5-Spoke Alloy Wheels
319 Lighting Pkg.
818 Crystal Grey/Seashell Grey Nappa Leather
H14 Burl Walnut Trim
314 Wood/Leather Steering Wheel
P01 Premium Pkg.
389 Keyless-Go Pkg.
401 Active Ventilated Front Seats
432 Active Multicontour Driver Seat
U80 115 Volt Household Type Outlet
997 Driver Assistance Pkg.
996 Parking Assist Pkg. WITH Surround View Camera
298 Rear Side Airbags-SPC
839 Laminated Acoustic Glass-SPC
297 Rear Side Window Sunblinds-SPC
872 Heated Rear Seats-SPC

The car came with impossibly light grey floor mats, so I put in a set of black ones. We also added the Comfort Box, which my wife just LOVES!

I drive a 2015 S550, which is a wonderful car that nothing much can touch for long hauls on the interstate. That said, I love this W212 and drive it every chance I get.

Congrats and thx for sharing pics. Looks sharp. I like to see the star standing tall on the hood.

Makes me think the next owner is really gonna be grateful that you ticked nearly every box on the order form! Ha

That interior looks stunning - with all of those SPC options, the car is likely one of a kind. Congratulations!

Congrats on your very attractive new E ! The interior is especially nice !

With all of the options chosen, odd that there is no stitched leather dash.
This is part of the Premium Plus package for Canada.

Yes. As much as I adore the MB brand, it absolutely DISGUSTS me the way they offer their vehicles. The stitched dash-which is MB Tex, by the way, not leather, is NOT AVAILABLE in the USA on an E350, NO MATTER WHAT! What kind of sense does that make? The car is built in Germany, they have access to the materials, sitting right there on the shelf, but not even as an SPC option can we have the stitched dash. Idiotic. Now, don't even get me started about them not even allowing for the SPACE to put a compact spare wheel/tire in my 2015 S550.

I love MB, but some of the things they do are just infuriating, to say the least!

very nice and classy. just be extra careful with the seats. my brother in law has the same shade in his C and its a pain especially with jeans. he ended up having a sheet of cloth for every seat.

Beautiful car and congrats. Did they drop surround view camera altogether or is it just temporarily unavailable? I love that feature on my car.

Amazing how little difference there is between the 2011 E and the 2016 E interior!

Congrats on the new purchase - the colors looks great.
I agree, the hood ornament and grill look great.

Out of curiosity, what the rod-looking thing above the passenger-side cargo net in the third picture? Not seen that before.

I have one in mine. It's some sort of cargo holder it has a mechanism to expand/contract as well as lock down. Basically a total waste.

Streamliner - That's a beautiful car. Light interiors/headliners feel so open.

Yes, I'm well aware that the stitched dash is MB Tex or 'Artico' as they call it in Canada and Europe.

MBUSA is very odd in their restrictions on options or what should be standard. For example, all Canadian production W212 since 2010 have had folding mirrors as standard, but I believe they were only added to US cars in MY2014. Folding rear seats are another standard feature for Canada, but apparently optional in the US.

As I understand it, it's only temporary and will be available on the new car. I love the option and we were not going to order the car, if we couldn't get it.

Competitive pressure forces MBUSA to decontent their vehicles to keep prices as low as possible. Canadians pay (significantly) more and get (slightly) more in terms of options.

Your 1st statement makes perfect sense.

However, the 2nd one is not correct if you convert Canadian prices to US dollars. For example, the current Canadian List Price for my E250BT4M is CD$69,300 (MP, MPP, & MSP). At the current exchange rate of CD$1 = US$0.81, that price becomes US$56,137. My car equipped similarly in the US would have a List price of US$69,980, or US$13,843 MORE than the Canadian price.

One major offset to the above apparent advantage for Canadian buyers is the huge new car discounts offered by US MB dealers. Canadian dealers maintain far higher margins in their new car sales departments !

Exchange rates change every day. Car prices can't and don't. Also you need to net out the 6.1% import duty. In any event, Canadian cars are not priced relative to US cars, they're priced relative to Canadian cars in the same class. An OEM considers Canadian vs US pricing as merely a check/balance to try to mitigate cross-border import/exports.

They can DECONTENT their base models all they want, that doesn't bother me one bit. My complaint is that MB is increasingly taking CHOICES away from their customers, by restricting our options.

For example: I would like a new GLK, but if I want one with such mundane items as a garage door opener and a back-up camera, the ONLY way I can get those things is in a huge package that includes the horrible Panorama Roof, which I happen to hate.

On my 2015 S550, I was given absolutely ZERO choice, as the frigging Pano Roof is now standard. Every time I look at that car, I don't like what I see. The Pano Roof-which completely changes the look of any lighter color car, should have remained an option. But even at the top of the heap, with their luxurious S Class, they have taken choices away from their customers. NOT GOOD!

Luxury is giving the customer MORE choices, not less. We should be able to order these cars exactly as we want them, within reasonable guidelines, of course. Throw in a $2,500.00 "special order" fee if you must, but allow the paying customer to get what they WANT, not what some bean counter in Atlanta decides we should want.

Beautiful and well optioned car. How much did the car cost you if you don't mind sharing? Thanks.

We leased this car for 3 years. This way, if we like the new model, we can go for it. If not, we will buy this one at the end of the lease. We got over 10% off MSRP.
