2012 / 2013 E550 4matic with 2014+ E63 AMG 4matic S exhaust
I do own an '12 E550 4matic. I am pretty satisfied with the car except for the stock exhaust note. As I did not want to do any modification to the car itself nor the stock exhaust, I decided to swap the exhaust.
So I placed a stock E63-exhaust in the car which was possible without any modification to the E63-exhaust itself or the car! I just had to use an adapter-set to connect the exhaust to the cats and the 4-tailpipes of the AMG-exhaust to my stock 2-exhaust tips. As a result I have a 100% stock locking car with AMG-Sound!

Well done!! Sounds nice -not too loud not too quiet. Were there visible differences between the E550 and the E63 mufflers/cats/resonators?

Well, the main difference is the diameter of the pipes. While the E550 uses 60mm pipes, the E63 has 70mm. Also, each rear muffler of the E550 has only one exhaust tailpipe, while the E63 has two of them.
Other than that, there is no visible difference. However, if you look into the mid-resonator, the E63 has two straight pipes with an H-Pipe while the E550 has many, many holes in it.

Outstanding work. Ingenious.
Is the AMG E63 S exhaust more or less expensive than Meisterschaft? From a recent post, it looks like Meisterschaft GTS is just under $3K and I think I recall seeing the lighter (?) GTC might be just over $3K.

I am absolutely sure, that a brand new exhaust will be more expensive than most aftermarket solutions. Actually I bought my exhaust used from an E63 4matic S driver, who upgraded to an after market solution.
A friend of mine will upgrade to an Eisenmann exhaust on his E550 by the end of this week, so we will have the opportunity to compare E550 with EISENMANN vs. E550 with E63 exhaust.

Thank you Sir!
Every car in Germany has to conform with the law, which is pretty strict. Each county is responsible for traffic observation - so they are responsible that every car is street legal. So today I went to an state inspection service an let them check the noise level of that exhaust. They measure the noise of the car, when passing the microphone at 30mph in 3rd gear. The car passed that test without problems...so this is even street legal over here

I wonder if any of the E63 after market exhausts would then fit the E550 - which would mean that there is so much more selection.

As mentioned before, it is not plug and play. You will have to use an adapter to connect the right hand catalytic converter with the AMG-Mid-Resonator. Other than that, every E63-BiTurbo-Exhaust should fit the E550 BiTurbo.

LOVE IT!
Now if only I can get my airmatic sorted, then stereo and wheels in, I'll finally be ready to do the exhaust!!! I would kill to have my car "done"
This really has a great sound to it. It's a contender for me now if I can find one at the right price!

That sounds pretty sweet... I went from my 2014 e550 to my 2014 e63S and I really craved the exhaust note ... You have captured it!!!
I'm impressed

Unfortunately not. I had them build at a local store. Of course I could provide a few adapters, if interested.

Just listen to that noise... E550 5.5 EISENMANN vs. E550 4.6 AMG vs E550 W211 SPORT mit HWA Exhaust (Stock!).

Thanks for the post and to share with us. Always wanted to hear what an E63 exhaust would sound like in an E550. I think the sound is not too off but the E63 still sounds a bit louder and more growl. I wonder if you match up the mid pipes with the E63 may make it even closer.
On the side note I am surprised the eisenmann exhaust sounded pretty quiet. I was hoping it sounded more like the meisterschaft exhaust.

When driving at a constant speed up to ~100mph, the exhaust is very quiet inside. Even under light acceleration it is pretty okay at those speeds. However, yes the exhaust can be annoying when you have to accelerate lightly due to overtaking or an upslope while cruising at 100-160mph.
So it really depends what one wants. A 100% sleeper that can cruise around at 160mph all day long without bothering the passengers with noise or a V8-rumble-cruiser...
If you want a sleeper, you might want to consider the S550.

LOL! In the USA, those are exceedingly rare speeds to achieve much less cruise at. Enjoy what you've got.
As you probably already know, 75-85mph is generally our highest posted limit. I figure you can safely add 9mph to those and not get a ticket.

Cls63 exhaust on cls 550
I'm new to the forum and I am currently in the same dilemma with the installation of the cls63 exhaust. Can you post a link of the adapters you used on the right side and did you utilize the same oem clamp for the left side.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have 2012 550 4matic
1. Would any 2010 E63 cut back exhaust be compatible with 550 4matic with the adaptor that you mentioned or do I have to get 2014+ 4Matci E63 exhaust ?
2. Did you keep the E63 resonators that came with it ? or got it deleted?
3 Do you like the Eisenmann exhaust sound in person over the AMG
Thanks a lot for your help and nice job !
