w212 19" tyre size 245/40/19 up front???

gents.. SOME GUIDANCE PLEASE or IF ANY ONE HAS FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE ON THIS

so i have some new alloys coming.

FACTS..

the front alloys are 19x8.5
the correct tyre size is 245/35 based on what i have at present and what i am reading else where

my QUESTION..

regarding tyres, putting all other aspects aside, will a 245/40 19" tyre fit or will it rub.. i want a higher profile than the 35,... will 40 work or 100% rub??

My question is purely about fitting and rubbing, not about rolling circumference etc..

i think the profile will give a better ride, but thoughts on if will it fit please!!

ANY ONE RUN THIS SET UP??

Clearance won't be an issue, but your speedo will be off by 4%.

thank looney.. yes i do realise the speedo may not be fully aligned..

however purpose at moment is to just see a higher profile tyre..

so have you had experience of the 245/40/19 tyre on the w212..?

Clearance IS the issue. It (245/40-19 same as 245/35-20) does not fit the front of non-airmatic W212 without rubbing the "perch".

OP, if you want higher profile, you can safely use 235/40-19 (not readily available though) or 255/35-19 (yes same profile but still just a bit higher sidewall than 245/35).

thanks for the that...

my car is a e350 with airmatic.

so you are suggesting 245/40 or 255/35 will both work with airmatic on my car

I don't have any personal experience with a 245/40 tire, I've never felt the need to increase the sidewall height.
A 245/40 tire will only come out an extra half inch from the hub, you shouldn't have any clearance issues as the tolerances aren't that tight in the wheel wells.
I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve with a taller tire, but, personally, I would just stick with what you've got.

On US based cars, airmatic was only available on E550s. So I know 245/40-19 does not fit a US E350. I do not know your market's setup, but in theory it should fit as airmatic (at least US) cars do not have that perch. There are no guarantees of anything - the best way to know (that's how I know) is to try out mounting a single 245/40-19 tire (tyre) on 8.5" wheel and then check for clearance (it should be OK on airmatic, but you never know until you try).

idontknow man im running 245/35/19 , 8.5 in front and 275.30.19 , 9.5 in back ET45 And it works fine and drives fine

But whats the offset man ? It is also crucial. As the original is 46 and im running 45. E class has alot of space inward and not so much outwards

im talking about the facelift model from 2013- present
