Help - Hex screw fell inside the torque converter
I was doing a transmission oil change for my 2012 E350. As I tried to tighten the hex screw onto the torque converter, the screw fell inside the bell housing. I tried to search it with a lighted dentist mirror and a wire with no luck.
I'm going to buy an inspection camera with a flexible cord and lighted tomorrow and will try to use it along with the a flexible magnetic tool to pick it up.
Do you guys know if if there is an easy way to access the bottom of the bell housing?
I'm assessing what the negative impact will be leaving the screw inside. Will it come in contact with the flywheel when the car bounces while in motion?
I'd appreciate any help and suggestions you may have.
Thanks,
John

Taped a small magnet onto a flexible rod and fished it out!
Then we eventually fish the thing out of the motor / drain and learn, hopefully, something about how important it is to control loose objects when working over bottomless pits ;-)
Glad you got it out!
