Hard shift out of park on incline
Question, do you experience a hard clunk when on a incline and coming from park into reverse or drive?
Mine has always done this, its not getting worse, i just never liked it.
Thanks again!
when parking on a slope, hold the regular brakes and put it in N., while holding brakes engage the E Brake (parking brake last on left) all the way. Release foot from both brakes (now all weight is on the E brake), press the normal brakes and put the car on P. Waaaallaaaa
when leaving, press the brakes and put the car on N, release E brake while holding the brakes all this time (Now all weight is on regular brakes), shift it normally to D.
By this you transfer all weight away from transmission to E brake (how it should be), and don't have any hard knuckles or very harsh shift when engaging gears.

When you care ready to park it, leave it in drive and do what is suggested. Firmly apply the parking brake and then put it in park. There will be no load on the parking yoke.
To start off do the same. Put it in drive or R and then release the brake.
I never had the issue because I always apply the brake before shifting to park.
My new CLA45 AMG puts the parking brake on automatically when I put the car in P with my foot on the brake. Same when leaving. I just put it in reverse or drive and touch the throttle and it releases basically doing automatically what I did in all my previous cars.

This is exactly how I do it.

I put 91K miles on my SLK and 12K on my E,
I shift into and out of park straight every time, never have any problem with gear box.
Don't worry too much, it's not a Volkswagen.
LOL.
Do you notice the hard shift as well?
