Just picked up my new to me 2012 E550
Wow....where does one start?...Bare with me while I set this up...I've been a Saab owner since 1979....Earlier this year I decided once and for all I was going to try a Benz, but which one? I finally settled on an 2012 E550, all the time knowing I was going to wait till December to buy the car. I spent my entire summer right here on this forum reading....reading and reading.
Well yesterday I bought the car and should be ready for pick up tomorrow of Monday. The test drive was amazing...I remember asking the salesman "will this thing stick?" as I roared off a curved exit ramp...I saw him kinda tighten up from the corner of my eyes and the car just eased into the curve like it was nothing.....but during that curve, the side bolsters in my seat stiffened up...I didn't know they were there and were not expecting that to happen...what an awesome feeling...it kept me from falling out of my seat. lol I am so anxious to learn more about this car.
I paid just under 45 with taxes and warranty, 4 snow tires and wheels. The warranty is a bumper to bumper 140 km warranty....no age limit, just mileage that cost over 4000$ The warrant includes even the little things like seals, fluids and also includes electronics
He gave me the VIN which I ran...(WDDHF9BB6CA574790) This is a Canadian car
I'll try to post a few pictures right now (I have the pictures from the ad before they took it down)
The few times I test drove it, I must say I kept getting confused between the wiper and turn signal stalks...I'm told that will take some time getting used to....The comand system looks a little intimidating but I guess I'll eventually get used to it.
Oh and heres the Kicker...the car is Cuprite Brown...never in a million years would I have ever thought I would have bought a non traditional color...I actually like it, and the few times I returned to the dealer during negotiations I found it grew on me. (it seemed to change color depending on the light but never actually looking like a brown car. Imagine that, I just bought a brown car...lol
Okay...thanks for letting me sound off....Hopefully it will be ready for the weekend....
I won't be doing any mods except changing the grille and probably a trunk spoiler.....looking on ebay.ca now

That is a beautiful car. I love that rare color and almost bought that color myself. The dynamic seat is a plus and I have had 2 E class cars with it and the active bolsters and massage function are great on longer trips. Enjoy that great ride!!

I love that color! It's funny because whenever I see pictures of the W212 (interior especially) i'm always like "Wow that is such a sexy car" then I remember I own one!!

Congrats! Looks like a well optioned one with distronic (one of my favorite options) and airmatic. You enjoy that car for a great while it's a definite keeper.

I was intrigued by the dynamic seats on a 2012 model, I believe you must have Airmatic option to have the seats, because they run off the same air pump.
Anyone have dynamic seats without Airmatic???

I also had no idea the seats run off the same system.

To my knowledge the Airmatic suspension compressor and the dynamic seat vacuum pump are completely separate.

This is a Mercedes Benz, where everything is engineered. or over-engineered as the case may be.

Congrats and welcome!
I think you indeed got a well-optioned car especially in comparison to mine. The more I read about Distronic, the more jealous I get of those who have it. Looking for obvious missing options, I only see the tiny deck lid spoiler and maybe blind spot monitoring missing. It's loaded (like a freight train)!
Same here. Just when you "think" you're on top of it, you'll drive another car and get all sorts of "confused" again. Good luck with that! Interestingly, Merc switched it / fixed it with the face lift in 2014 and above. Argh!

Hey rediesel,
it doesn't have a rear deck spoiler ( if someone has one for sale at a fair price...pm me...I'll take it now (a new star grille too)), but it does indeed have blind spot monitoring...at least I think it does...thats those little orange (I think orange) light embedded into the side mirrors that change color when your try to change lanes with someone in your blind spot? Well if so I saw them working while on my test drives

Just an FYI, the trunk spoilers can be found on Ebay pre-painted to factory color codes or carbon fiber for less than $100. They just stick on.
As far as turn signal, I'm used to my old Benz, but it was a little weird when I switched to that one.

You'll need a distronic grille too BTW if you want a star grille - honestly keep the old style it really is classic, and on that Cuprite brown super sophisticated looking.

You have blind spot assist, but with distronic your blind spot assist becomes an active system, and will apply brake force on the rear side to drag you back in your lane (I actually don't like this and have it off). Distronic also gives you radar cruise which will let you set it at 85MPH and the car will slow just as traffic does all the way to a stop.

Make sure you ask them for the start button. I see in the pictures it has the key in the ignition. If you have the keyless go system which I assume you do, you can use push button start. It's 50 bucks if they make you buy it but it should come with the car. Keyless go system allows you to enter the car without manually pushing the button on the key fob. You can also lock the car by touching the exterior handle when exiting the car. Needless to say the only reason you would need your keys is to start the car unless you have the button. Awaited looking car, I really like the color.
